According to her death certificate, Ollie Snipes Speers died March 3, 1936 in Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky, from hypertensive heart disease. Also on this certificate, her birthplace is listed as Bonanza, Kentucky, her birth date as February 12, 1890, her marital status as married, her husband as Dr. T. J. Speers, her parents as Gus Snipes (b. Kentucky) and Elizabeth Hackworth (b. Kentucky, the informant as Dr. T. J. Speers, and the burial place as Prestonsburg, Kentucky.

According to their marriage certificate, J. M. Snipes married Cora Spradlin on March 7, 1907 in Floyd County at the home of Manda Spradlin. The witnesses were Sam Snipes and Vada May, and that minister was J. A. Conley.

When Joe Snipes' World War I draft registration card was filled out on June 5, 1917 in Floyd County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a farmer, that he was married and had 4 children, and that he was born December 24, 1887 in Bonanza, Kentucky. He was found to be of medium height and build, and he had black eyes and black hair.

Information found on findagrave.com and a photo of their headstone shows that Cora Snipes lived from 1890 to 1973 and was buried in Snipes Family Cemetery in West Prestonsburg, Floyd County, Kentucky, and that Joe Snipes lived from 1887 to 1962 and was buried in the same cemetery. It also says that Joe's father was Adam Augustus Snipes (1866-1890), with a photo of his headstone in Snipes-Shell Cemetery in Bonanza provided, and that Adam Snipes' wife was Elizabeth Hackworth.

According to Social Security death record transcripts, Cora Snipes was born May 12, 1890, and died in November of 1973. She received her Social Security card prior to 1973 in Kentucky, and her last place of residence was in West Prestonsburg, Floyd County, Kentucky.

According to Kentucky death record transcripts, Cora Snipes died November 23, 1973 in Floyd County at the age of 83. She was living in Floyd County at the time of her death.

According to Kentucky death record transcripts, Joe Snipes died July 31, 1962 in Floyd County at the age of 74. He was living in Floyd County at the time of his death.

Hale is listed as the head of the household for house #81, he's a farmer, born in June of 1862 in Kentucky, parents born in Kentucky, married for 1 year, and he's 37 years old. Also listed are Elizabeth (wife, born in May of 1865 in Kentucky, parents born in Kentucky, married for 1 year, she's given birth to 5 children and all are still living, age 35), Jennie (daughter, born in July of 1887 in Kentucky, age 12), Annie (daughter, born in May of 1892 in Kentucky, age 8), Ethel (daughter, born in October of 1899 in Kentucky, age 7 months), Jerry Snipes (step-son, born in December of 1887 in Kentucky, parents born in Kentucky, age 12), Ollie E. Snipes (step-daughter, born in February of 1889 in Kentucky, parents born in Kentucky, age 11), and Samuel Snipes (step-son, born in September of 1890 in Kentucky, parents born in Kentucky, age 9).

Also listed are Cora (wife, born in Kentucky, parents born in Kentucky, 1st marriage, she's given birth to 1 child and that child is still living, age 19), and Jonah (daughter, born in Kentucky, age 1 year 11 months).

On page 7 of the 1920 census for District 15 (Abbott) in Floyd County, Kentucky (dated January 9, 1920), Joe Snipes is listed as the head of the household for house #50, he's a farmer, born in Kentucky, parents born in Kentucky, and he's 32 years old. Also listed are Cora (wife, born in Kentucky, parents born in Kentucky, age 29), Jonnie (daughter, born in Kentucky, age 12), Cecil (son, born in Kentucky, age 9), Oma (daughter, born in Kentucky, age 6), and Joe (son, born in Kentucky, age 3).

On page 5 of the 1940 census for District 36-4 in Floyd County, Kentucky (dated April 10, 1940), Joe Snipes is listed as the head of the household for house #40, he's a farmer, born in Kentucky, he's living in the same place that he was in 1935, he has a 7th grade education, and he's 52 years old. Also listed are Cora (wife, born in Kentucky, 8th grade education, age 49), Malta (daughter, born in Kentucky, age 19), and Darwin (son, born in Kentucky, age 17).

      Information found on findagrave.com and a photo of his headstone shows that Darwin Leo Snipes was born December 16, 1922 in Bonanza, Kentucky, was killed in action on June 29, 1944 in St. Andre, France, and was buried in Snipes Family Cemetery in West Prestonsburg, Floyd County, Kentucky, the same cemetery as his parents. He was a private and was in Company K., 116th Infantry and was awarded the Purple Heart for military merit.
