   According to his obituary found online, Ollie Jay Smith (age 91), son of the late James Clinton and Junie Elizabeth Doolin Smith, served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division of the 508th Infantry, Company B, at the Battle of the Bulge in World War II. After the war, he returned to Morgan County, Kentucky, where he worked as a Deputy Sheriff for 8 years, and then as a carpenter until 1984 when he retired from the Ohio Carpenters Union. He was born October 22, 1922 in Morgan County, Kentucky, died July 12, 2014 at home in Riverview, Florida, and was buried in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, John Smith, Van Smith, and Henry Smith; 4 sisters, Ruby Gray, Wilma Gibson, Maxine Blankenship, and Jewel Lank. He was survived by 2 sons, Jimmy Smith and Garry Smith; 2 daughters, Billy Smith Brown and Bonnie Smith Deffinbaugh; 1 brother, Lloyd Smith; 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
