Notes: Thomas J. Caudill's father was a man with the last name of Sexton, as he's found as Thomas J. Sexton in the 1870 census. After that, he went by the name of Thomas Caudill. His father's name was reportedly Jonathan Sexton.

Thomas Caudill reportedly had a 3rd wife by the name of Cynthia Everman.

A photo of their headstone shows that T. J. Caudill lived from 1857 to 1953, and Mary J. Caudill lived from 1859 to 1927 [hard to read].

He was born June 22, 1890 in Lickburg, Magoffin County, Kentucky, and died September 3, 1965 in Boyd County, Kentucky.

Notes: According to her death certificate, Emily Jane Day Hickman died January 7, 1919 in Oakview, Boyd County, Kentucky, from pneumonia. Also on this certificate, her birthplace is listed as Kentucky, her birth date as July 5, 1852, her marital status as married, her parents as Joseph Cooper (b. Kentucky) and Julia Ann Day (b. Kentucky), the informant as Hugh A. Hickman of Ashland, and the burial place as Oldfield Cemetery in Ashland.

When Emzah Clinten Hickman's World War I draft registration card was filled out on June 5, 1917 in Greenup County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a self-employed farmer in Naples, Kentucky, that he had a wife and 3 children, and that he was born June 22, 1890 in Lickburg, Kentucky. He was found to be of medium height and build, and he had gray eyes and brown hair.

She was born August 15, 1865 in Johnson County, Kentucky, died November 10, 1927 in Little Gap, Johnson County, Kentucky, and is buried in Martin Salyer Cemetery in Johnson County, Kentucky. Nancy Jane Stapleton married (2) MARTIN SALYER, son of JONATHAN HENRY SALYER and ALINA JONES, January 28, 1892 in Johnson County, Kentucky. He was born January 12, 1867 in Kentucky, died December 24, 1936 in Little Gap, Johnson County, Kentucky, and is buried in Kerz, Johnson County, Kentucky.

Notes: Information on Nancy Stapleton can be found on page 289 of "The Conley Clan of Eastern Kentucky," published and sold by The Magoffin County Historical Society. In that book (page 288), it says that Greenville Salyer, son of Henderson and Nancy "Williams" Salyer, was born about 1857 and married a lady by the name of Sarah E., the last name not being mentioned. Their children were Mary E. (b. 1887), Myrtie J. (b. 1890), and Bertha Salyer (b. 1896). This was Greenville C. Salyer, son of Martin Salyer and Susannah Salyer, and Greenville C. Salyer was the brother of Nancy's 2nd husband, Martin Salyer.

Greenville Salyer's father and Nancy Jane Stapleton's mother were siblings, making them 1st cousins.

According to Kentucky marriage record transcripts, Granville F. Salyer (age 23) married Nancy J. Stapleton (age 15) on December 24, 1880 in Johnson County. It appears that Greenville died before 1892, and that his wife remarried. According to another marriage record, Jane Stapleton (age 26) married Martin Salyer (age 24) on January 28, 1892 in Johnson County.

He was born August 4, 1874 in Morgan County, Kentucky, died May 25, 1951 in St. Mary's Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia, from a heart attack, and was buried in the family cemetery in Chandlerville. He was survived by his wife, Lida Margaret Salyers Green; 8 sons; 6 daughters, 39 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Green, on May 21, 1968. He was survived by 3 sons, Charlie (of Lowmansville), Tillman (Taylor, Michigan), and Willie (West Van Lear); 5 brothers, Paris Green (Huntington, West Virginia), Arthur Green (Catlettsburg), Harry Green (Coal Grove, Ohio), Malcolm Green (Arizona), and Milton Green (Holden, West Virginia); 1 sister, Bessie Moore (Wheelersburg, Ohio); 35 grandchildren; and 61 great-great-grandchildren.
