When Patrick Blair's World War I draft registration card was filled out on September 12, 1918 in Paintsville, Johnson County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a self-employed farmer in Hager Hill, Johnson County, that his closest relative was Martha J. Blair of Hager Hill, and that he was born May 26, 1877. He was found to be of medium height and slender build, and he had gray eyes and brown hair.

According to his death certificate, Patrick NMI [no middle name] Blair died May 25, 1953 in Hager Hill from cancer of the liver. Also on this certificate, is birthplace is listed as Johnson County, his birth date as May 26, 1875, his marital status as married, his occupation as self-employed farmer, his parents as Andrew Blair and Mahalia Pelphrey, the informant as Mrs. Lawson King, and the burial place as Music Cemetery in Hager Hill.

According to his obituary, Patrick Blair (age 78), son of the late Andrew and Mahala Pelphrey Blair, was a farmer and a lifelong resident of Johnson County. He was born March 26, 1875 in Johnson County, died May 25, 1953 at home in Hager Hill following an illness of 6 months, and was buried in Music Cemetery in Hager Hill. He was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Martha Jane Conley Blair, who died February 2, 1934. According to Patrick Blair's obituary, Opal Stanley was first married to a man with the last name of Blackburn, but in the 1930 census she is married to James Branahan. "Branahan" is hard to read, but it's definitely not Blackburn. She had 2 children before that marriage, Thomas H. and Dorothy M. There was a Harrison Peters that was born October 27, 1914 in Floyd County to a Othal Stanley. This was probably Thomas H. Stanley/Thomas Harrison Peters.

Opal Stanley Blair was living in Orlando, Florida when her step-son Reevie Blair died in 1977, as is indicated in his obituary.

Amanda J. Miller's maiden name was confirmed by finding the death certificate of her daughter, Alma Stanley Hyden (1903-1943). On that certificate, her parents are listed as Frank Stanley (b. Virginia) and Manda Miller (b. West Prestonsburg, Kentucky).

When Starlin Gipson's World War I draft registration card was filled out on September 12, 1918 in Prestonsburg, Floyd County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a miner working for Middle Creek Coal Company in Prestonsburg, that his closest relative was Lizzie Gipson of Middle Creek, and that he was born in June of 1882. He was found to be of medium height and build.

When Starling Gibson's World War II draft registration card was filled out on April 27, 1942 in Kenton, Hardin County, Ohio, he stated that he was born July 2, 1884 in Florida County, Kentucky, and that his closest relative was Mrs. Starling Gibson of Alger, Ohio. He was found to be 5 feet 4 inches tall, he weighed 148 pounds, and he had brown eyes, black hair, and a ruddy complexion. Not being able to read or write, he signed the card with an "X."

According to Ohio death record transcripts, "Elizabe" Gibson was born about 1885, and died November 12, 1969 in Hardin Memorial Hospital in Kenton, Hardin County at the age of 84. She was married at the time of her death.

According to Ohio death record transcripts, Starlin Gibson was born about 1883, and died November 16, 1969 in Toledo Mental Health Center in Toledo, Lucas County, at the age of 86. He was living in Hardin County, Ohio, and was widowed at the time of his death.

On page 5 of the 1900 census for District 36 (Allen) in Floyd County, Kentucky (dated June 12, 1900), Starling Gibson is found living as a boarder with a Higgins family. Allen Higgins [of Higgans] is listed as the head of the household for house #130, he's a farmer, born in May of 1858 in Kentucky, parents born in Virginia, married for 10 years , and he's 47 years old. When Hamilton C. Combs' World War II draft registration card was filled out on April 27, 1942 in Kenton, Hardin County, Ohio, he stated that He was working for State Muck Farm, that his closest relative was Mrs. Wthel [Ethel] O'Hattery of McGuffey, Ohio, and that he was born November 15, 1886 in Magoffin County, Kentucky. He was found to be 5 feet 9 inches tall, he weighted 157 pounds, and he had blue eyes, brown hair, and a ruddy complexion.

Fitzhugh Lee Yates was the brother of Celesta Charlotte Yates, Nervesta H. Yates, and possibly Easter V. Caudill, the wife of John Q.A. Caudill.

According to his death certificate, Fitch Lee Yates died January 18, 1935 in Rice, Kentucky, from a broken neck after falling off of a hay mound. Also on this certificate, his birthplace is listed as Kentucky, his birth date as December 26, 1863, his marital status as widowed, his parents as Allec Yates (b. Kentucky) and Melissa Coleman (b. She was interested in going to see the Tackett Cemetery on Rt. 40 near String Town where her kinsman Clint McFarlan is buried. I took them to visit the cemetery.
"Clint McFarlan was born in 1868 and died in the 1940s. He married 7 Feb 1899 to Eliza Workman who was born in 1859 and died in 1911. She was a daughter of Henry Workman and Narcissus Lemaster. Narcissus was a daughter of Ambrose Lemaster and his first wife Nancy McGuire. Ambrose married secondly to "Granny" Fanny Shaver. You may remember that a monument was set recently for her and a twin marker is in the planning stage for Ambrose Lemaster and his first wife and children. Ambrose is buried in the Lemaster Cemetery behind the Falcon School and there is no access road except up the Tom Prater hollow.
"Clint McFarlan was a son of Elmore McFarlan b. 1838. Elmore was a son of F. Willman McFarlan b. 1816 Russell Co. VA and a grandson of Christopher McFarlan b. 1790 d. 1830 Russell Co. VA. North Carolina), his mother's maiden name as Colvin (b. Kentucky), and the informant as Hobart Conley of Paintsville, Kentucky.

According to his obituary, John Milton Conley, son of Matt and Elizabeth Colvin Conley (early Kentucky pioneer settlers who came from North Carolina), was born February 27, 1862 in Floyd County, married Marry Etta Woods in 1884 (she died December 13, 1933), and died January 16, 1944 in Johnson County. He had 3 brothers, Pierce, Clark, and Jim, and 4 sisters, Alice, Sula, Addie, and Sarah, and all died before him except Clark. He was also survived by his 9 children; Forrest T. According to his obituary, Mason Conley, son of the late John C. and Helen Johnson Conley and a lifelong resident of Collista, was killed instantly on December 3, 1945 in the mines on Rush Fork of Toms Creek when he became caught on a conveyor loading machine. He was survived by his wife; 1 son, Beecher Conley (living at home); 1 daughter, Florine Conley (living at home); and 1 grandchild.
