GEORGE W. PIERCE was born about 1849 in North Carolina, and died June 26, 1879 in Sevier County, Arkansas. He married FLORA M. MCLANE, daughter of ALEXANDER MCLANE and LOUISA LONG. She was born in February of 1847 in Arkansas. Flora McLane Pierce married (2) (unknown first name) OWENS.

Notes: Some researchers have George W. Pierce as the son of William A. Pierce and Catherine Richardson of Tennessee. This is not the case, as is shown in the census reports. Their children were Susan (b. 1847, Tennessee), Mary C. (b. 1848, Tennessee), James (b. 1851, Tennessee), William (b. 1854, Tennessee), Martha E. (b. 1857, Tennessee), Daniel (b. 1859, Tennessee), Abraham L. (b. 1861, Tennessee), Winfield Scott (b. 1862, Tennessee), and Benjamin F. (b. 1865, Tennessee). There was a George W. Pierce born in June of 1850 in Onslow County, North Carolina, to a William and Catherine Pierce, but this George can be found in 1870 still living in North Carolina (with what appears to be his wife - Rebecca) and since George and Flora already had two children by 1870 this couldn't be him.

On page 2 of the 1850 census for Terre Noire in Clark County, Arkansas (dated December 15, 1850), Alexander McLain is listed as the head of the household for house #375, he's a farmer, born in North Carolina, and he's 30 years old. Notes: Although there's no proof at this time, Samuel Lee is probably a descendant of William and Eunice Hotchkiss Lee of Connecticut. According to Guilford, Connecticut records, William and Eunice had a son by the name of Reuben that was born September 28, 1773. Reuben can be found in Bloomfield, New York in 1800 and is still there in 1850, although it's West Bloomfield then. His birthplace is listed as Connecticut and he's 77 years old. His wife is Lois Hall and she's born in Connecticut and 77 years old, as well. Samuel turns up in the Bloomfield census as the head of a household in 1820. Reuben is on page 7 of that census and Samuel is on page 2. In Reuben's house in 1810, there are 3 males under the house of 10 years old and 1 between 10 and 15. It's possible that the son that's between the ages of 10 and 15 is Samuel.

In the 1800 census for Bloomfield in Ontario County, New York, there is only 1 Lee that is a head of the household and that is Reuben. There are several more in other parts of the county. Reuben is between the ages of 26 and 44.

In the 1810 census for Bloomfield in Ontario County, New York, there are several different Lee families. The heads of household are listed as: William (between the ages of 26 and 44, page 7), Reuben (between 26 and 44, page 7), Jona (45 or over, page 8), Noble (between 26 and 44, page 10), Amos (45 or over, page 14), and George (between 26 and 44, page 14).

On page 2 of the 1820 census for Victor in Ontario County, New York, Samuel Lee is listed as the head of his household. In this house are 1 male between the ages of 16 and 18, 1 male between 16 and 26, 1 male between 26 and 45, 2 females under 10, and 1 famale between 16 and 26.

On page 43 of the 1830 census for Bloomfield in Ontario County, New York, Samuel H. Lee is listed as the head of his household. In this house are 1 male between the ages of 20 and 30, 1 between 30 and 40, 1 female under 5, 1 female between 5 and 10, 2 females between 10 and 15, and 1 female between 30 and 40.

On page 9 of the 1840 census for East Bloomfield in Ontario County, New York, Samuel H. Lee is listed as the head of his household. In this house are 2 males under 5 years old, 1 male between 40 and 50, 2 females between 5 and 10, 1 female between 10 and 15, 2 females between 20 and 30, and 1 female between 40 and 50.

On page 54 of the 1850 census for Victor in Ontario County New York (dated September 17, 1850), Samuel H. Lee is listed as the head of the household for house #401, he's a cooper, born in Massachusetts, and he's 55 years old. Also listed are Amelia (born in Connecticut, age 54), Rosannah (born in New York, age 33), Mary C. (born in New York, age 31), Lydia (born in New York, age 22), Miranda (born in New York, age 16), Samuel (born in New York, age 13), and Robert (born in New York, age 10).

On page 22 of the 1860 census for Victor in Ontario County, New York (dated July 9, 1860), Samuel H. MARY CONLEY, daughter of REBECCA JANE CRACE and GEORGE J. CONLEY, was born November 6, 1884 in Magoffin County, Kentucky, and died September 17, 1921 in Bloomington, Magoffin County, Kentucky. She married SMITH FRANCIS, son of JOSEPH FRANCIS and ARAMATHA COFFEE, August 1, 1905. He was born May 9, 1886 in Magoffin County, Kentucky, and died September 15, 1971 in Morgan County, Kentucky. He married (2) ALWILDA (unknown last name). She was born May 14, 1892 in Kentucky, and died May 29, 1976 in Cisco, Magoffin County, Kentucky.

Notes: According to her death certificate, Mary Conley died from "child bed fevor (sic) - did not have any physician." Also on this certificate, her parents are listed as George Conley (b. Kentucky) and Rebecca Crace (b. Kentucky), and the informant as Taylor Conley of Lickburg, Kentucky. Mary's name is listed as Mary France. There is a partial note at the bottom of the certificate that was presumably written by Taylor Conley that says "this is the best information that I am able to give you. Notify Harrison France at P.O. Bloomington to not allow any" then there is an unreadable word followed by "over." The back of the certificate wasn't scanned so it's unknown what the rest of the note says. It's also unknown who Harrison France is. Harrison could possibly be Smith Francis first or middle name.

When Smith Francis' World War I draft registration card was filled out on September 10, 1918 in Magoffin County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a laborer for C & O.N. R.R. Co. in Minford, Scioto County, Ohio, that he was living in Bloomington, Kentucky, that his closest relative was Mrs Marry Francis of Bloomington, and that he was born May 9, 1886. He was found to be of medium height and build, with brown eyes, black hair, and one bad eye.

"The Conley Clan of Eastern Kentucky," published and sold by The Magoffin County Historical Society lists a 6th child in this family (actually listed as the 5th child), Fannie.

On page 24 of the 1900 census for District 54 (Bloomington) in Magoffin County, Kentucky (dated April 8, 1930), Joseph Francis is listed as the head of the household for house #206, he's a farmer, born in April of 1860 in Kentucky, parents born in Kentucky, married for 21 years, an
