Notes: The exact lineage of Challie Blanton is hard to trace. His death certificate lists Lige Welsh and Frankie Collins as his parents, so that's what is used here. There was a 4-year-old Elijah B. Wells living with his parents, Allen and Susan Wells, in house #240 in the 1880 census for District 46 (Johns Creek) in Johnson County. Susan Wells' maiden name was reportedly Collins. Elijah would have been about 14 when Challie Blanton was born. Some extra information will be posted here for future reference.

According to her obituary, Lula Blair Blanton (age 72), daughter of Leecie and Jane Conley Blair and a resident of Paintsville for the 15 years prior to her death, was born October 11, 1888 in Johnson County, died January 27, 1961 at the Paintsville home of her daughter, Mrs. Imogene Baldridge, and was buried in the family cemetery. She was preceded in death by her husband, Challie Blanton, on August 5, 1945. She was survived by 3 sons, Russell Blanton (of Chesterburg, Ohio), Douglas Blanton (Dayton, Ohio), and Frank Blanton (Dayton, Ohio); 3 daughters, Mrs. Imogene Baldridge (Paintsville), Neva Dale (Dayton, Ohio), and Bessie Gullett (Paintsville); 4 brothers, Asa Blair (West Van Lear), Warnie Blair (Van Lear), Herbert Blair (Sunbury, Ohio), and Irvin Blair (Oil Springs); and 3 sisters, Ellen Pennington (Falcon), Goldia Vincent (Wayland), and Abbie Borders (Ulysses). According to his obituary, Hershel Fitzpatrick (age 42) was a resident of Columbus, Ohio, for the 5 years prior to his death. He was born October 17, 1910 in Leander, Kentucky, died August 13, 1952 in Veterans' Hospital in Dayton, Ohio, from cirrhosis of the liver, and was buried in the family cemetery.
