"A Ford car, the property of the driver, Marion E. Ham, went over a high embankment near the store of J. W. Jones Sunday afternoon, and fatally injured the man and from these injuries Mr. Ham died at four o'clock Monday morning. the car turned over and held the driver beneath its weight in twelve inches of water until parties passing relieved it from the wreck. A three-year-old girl in the car was uninjured.
"The driver, according to observers, apparently lost control of the car and headed straight for the high embankment, and plunged some fifteen feet to his death.
"Marion E. Ham is the son of L. M. Ham and lived at Triplett, Rowan county. He was an employee at the brick plant at Haldeman.
"Dr. J. M. Rose of Olive Hill, was called and reports the man died of internal injuries of the abdomen, perhaps rupture of the bladder, and that no bones were broken and no lacerations to the body.
"The deceased, a young man and respected citizen, leaves a wife and three children to mourn the loss of one who has passed to the shores of another clime and from whence no troubles ever returns. He died with a prayer on his lips for the relief from intense pain and imploring his Maker to have mercy on his soul."
