He married SALLY VAUGHAN, daughter of WILLIAM H. VAUGHAN and ELIZABETH ALLEN, about 1922. She was born about 1903 in Kentucky, died February 25, 1964 in Wenatchee, Chelan County, Washington, and is buried in Wenatchee, Chelan County, Washington.

    Notes: When Clifford F. Pace's World War I draft registration card was filled out on September 12 [1918] in Magoffin County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a teacher in Conley, Magoffin County, that his closest relative was John Pace of Conley, and that he was born May 1, 1900. He was found to be tall, of medium build, and he had blue eyes and light-colored hair. The person who actually filled out the card wrote - under "Has person lost arm, leg, hand, eye, or is hs obviously physically disqualified? (Specify)" - "Has Typhoid Fever I am informed by his father."

    According to his death certificate, Clifford Franklin Pace died March 5, 1942 in Paintsville Hospital from uremia. Also on this certificate, his birthplace is listed as Kentucky, his birth date as May 1, 1900, his marital status as married, his occupation as attorney at law, his parents as John J. Pace (b. Kentucky) and Mollie Bailey (b. Kentucky), the informant as Mrs. Sally Pace of Paintsville, Kentucky, and the burial place as Conley, Kentucky.

    According to his obituary, Clifford Pace (age 42), son of John J. and Molly Bailey Pace of Magoffin County, died March 6, 1942, a day after suffering a stroke, and was buried in Burning Fork, Magoffin County. He was preceded in death by 1 sister, Tressie, who was killed in an automobile accident several years prior while on her way from Oklahoma City to Paintsville to attend their mother's funeral. He was survived by his wife, the former Sallie Vaughan; 1 son, Martin Allen; 2 brothers, Tommie Pace (of Washington State) and John Wallis (Washington); and 1 sister, Versie (Mrs. Nolan Cecil) (Washington). "Completing High School at Magoffin Collegiate Institute, Mr. Pace earned enough money from teaching school to attend the Bowling Green Business College. He became official court reporter in this judicial district and graduated from the law college of the University of Kentucky in 1931. Practicing in Paintsville, he soon established himself as an outstanding lawyer, having an especially well known reputation as a criminal attorney as well as corporation counsel, representing Consolidation Coal Company."     According to her obituary, Sally Vaughn Pace, daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Allen Vaughn and a former resident of Paintsville, died February 25, 1964 in Wenatchee, Washington, where she had been living for a few years prior to her death, making her home with her son, Martin Allen Pace, and was buried in Wenatchee, Washington. She married Clifford Pace, a Paintsville attorney, who preceded her in death. She was survived by her son; 1 brother, Carl Martin (of Paintsville); and 4 grandchildren. She was born February 8, 1891 in Kentucky, died April 12, 1969 in Garrett, Floyd County, Kentucky, and is buried in Goose Creek Hill at Stone Coal and Goose Creek Gap Floyd County, Kentucky.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dave Webb, on February 19, 1953. She was survived by 2 sons, Glen Webb and Elmer Webb (of Springfield, Ohio); 2 daughters, Mrs. Elmer Delaney (Olive Hill) and Mrs. Sammie Phipps (Jackson, Ohio); 3 brothers, Hayden Conley (East Point), Mark Conley (Kingsport, Tennessee), and Bascom Conley (Martin); 3 sisters, Mrs. Bill Blair (Collista), Mrs. Bill Ward (Springfield, Ohio), and Mrs. Bill McFaddin (Paintsville); 16 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.     Notes: Mariah Stringer's maiden name was confirmed by finding the death certificate of one of her sons. According to his death certificate, Joe Stamp [David Joseph Stamp Jr.] died February 14, 1911 in West Liberty, Morgan County, from scarlot fever or acute nephritis. Also on this certificate, his birthplace is listed as Kentucky, his birth date as June 23, 1896, his marital status as single, his parents as David J. Stamp (b. London, England) and Mariah Stringer (b. Kentucky), and the informant as David J. Stamp of West Liberty.

    David Joseph Stamp, son of Harry Stamp (b. England) and Charlotte Wheeler (b. England), was born July 12, 1847 in London, England, died of arteriosclerosis on June 23, 1933 in Morehead, Rowan County, Kentucky, and was buried in Morehead, Rowan County, Kentucky. He emigrated to the United States in 1865 and was found to be a coal miner in 1900. His second wife was Elizabeth "Betty" Whitt, daughter of Harley Whitt and Matilda Martin. She was born July 29, 1850 in Kentucky, died of a "common cold" on May 2, 1932 in Morgan County, Kentucky, and is buried in Stacy Fork Cemetery in Morgan County, Kentucky.

    Harlan and Ann Stamp Conley were reportedly married February 14, 1896 in Morgan County.

Annie Stamp consistently lists her father's birthplace as England and must be the "missing" child of David and Mariah Stamp. Annie claims that she was born in February of 1880 in the 1900 census, but she's not in the 1880 census, which was taken in June of 1880. This means that she must have been born in February of 1881.

Andrew Jackson Rigsby married (1) SARAH M. SEAGRAVES. She was born about 1850 in Kentucky, and died in 1880.

FRIEND and NANCY B. FLANNERY. She was born December 12, 1876 in Floyd County, Kentucky, died July 5, 1964 in King's Daughters' Hospital in Ashland, Boyd County, Kentucky, and is buried in Highland Memorial Gardens in South Point, Lawrence County, Ohio.

    When Lewis Conley's World War I draft registration card was filled out on September 12, 1918 in Paintsville, Johnson County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a self-employed merchant in Paintsville, that his closest relative was Naoma Conley of Paintsville, and that he was born April 27, 1773 [mistake]. He was found to be short, of medium build, and he had blue eyes and black hair.

    According to her obituary, Naomi Friend Conley (age 86), daughter of the late Edwin and Nancy Flannery Friend and a resident of Ashland, was born December 12, 1876 in Floyd County, died July 5, 1964 in King's Daughters' Hospital in Ashland, and was buried in Highland Memorial Gardens in South Point. She was survived by her husband, Lewis Conley; 1 son, Edwin F. Conley, Sr. (of Ashland); 2 daughters, Mrs. Leslie Smith (Pedro, Ohio) and Mrs. Roland Samons (South Point); 15 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.     Notes: Mary Jane Stone Penix's maiden name was confirmed by finding both her death certificate (1865-1947), and her husband's (1849-1930). She was the daughter of Enoch Stone and Catherine Royster. John D. Penix was the son of John U. Penix and Katherine Stewart.
