She married ALONZO "LONZO" RICE, son of CHARLES L. RICE and MARY JANE WEBB, December 21, 1904. He was born September 6, 1881 in Lick Fork, Johnson County, Kentucky, and died February 3, 1927 in Weeksbury, Floyd County, Kentucky.

Notes: Information on this family can be found on page 496 of the book "Johnson County, Kentucky: A History of the County, and Genealogy of Its People Up to the Year 1927" by Mitchell Hall. In that book it says that Lonzo Rice was born September 6, 1881 on Lick Fork, and died February 3, 1927. He married Lura Blair, daughter of Harry Blair, on December 21, 1904. She was born September 23, 1888. Their children were Norma Rice (b. October 25, 1905, married Sandy Ramey), Fannie Rice (b. August 24, 1907), Herschell Rice (b. February 13, 1909), Myrtle Rice (b. December 31, 1910), Erskin Rice (b. October 4, 1912, d. November 13, 1913), Marie Rice (b. August 18, 1914), Hansel Rice (b. May 17, 1916), Clifford Rice (b. April 4, 1918), Vernon Rice (b. October 4, 1921), Anna Jane Rice (b. October 10, 1923), and Ed Eugene Rice (b. February 16, 1925). It also says:

     "Lon Rice lived near the Forks of Jennie's Creek the greater part of his life. A year or so previous to his death he moved to West Van Lear. When work was lacking at home, he got a job in the mines at Weeksbury, and had only been there three days when he was the victim of a slate fall.
     "Norma Rice married July 4, 1923, to a son of Hays Ramey, and resides at Meally, Kentucky."

When Lonzo Rice's World War I draft registration card was filled out in Paintsville, Johnson County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a self-employed farmer in Denver, Johnson County, that his closest relative was Lura Rice of Denver, and that he was born September 6, 1881. He was found to be tall and slender.

Information found on findagrave.com and a photo of their headstone shows that Lura V. Rice lived from 1888 to 1968, and was buried in Plot D in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods, Greenup County, Kentucky, and that her son Hershel lived from 1909 to 1984 and was buried in Plot D of the same cemetery.

According to Social Security death record transcripts, Lura Rice was born September 23, 1888, and died in October of 1968. She received her Social Security card in 1963 in Kentucky, and her last place of residence was in Ashland, Boyd County, Kentucky.

According to Kentucky death record transcripts, Lura V. Rice died October 26, 1968 in Johnson County at the age of 80. She was living in Boyd County at the time of her death.

He was born in April of 1855 in Kentucky, died February 21, 1912 in State Road Fork, Magoffin County, Kentucky, and is buried in W. S. Price Cemetery in Oil Springs, Johnson County, Kentucky.

Notes: Jesse Pennington was the brother of Rachel Pennington and Levi Pennington.

Jesse Pennington's mother's name comes from his brother Levi's death certificate. According to this certificate, Levi died July 27, 1923 in Ophir, Morgan County, Kentucky, from heart dropsy. Also on this certificate, his age is listed as 72, his marital status as married, his parents as William Pennington (b. Kentucky) and Martha Blanton (b. Kentucky), and the informant as Frank Burchett of Ophir, Kentucky.

      Sylvia Jean Spradlin Dyer's obituary (Taken from the obituary page of the The Johnson County Historical & Genealogical Society's website.): Funeral services were held at the Beechwall United Baptist Church on Friday, August 23, for three victims of a train-automobile accident at Crestline, OH. Junior Dyer, 37, his wife, and their son, Donnie K. Dyer, 10, were buried in the Spradlin Cemetery at Denver after a joint service. All three died after their automobile collided with a train on Sunday, August 18, in Ohio. Mr. Dyer was the son of Lender and Minnie Ray Dyer. He was born in Salyersville in October, 1930. Mrs. Dyer was the daughter of Kay and Alma Baldwin Spradlin of Denver. Donnie was born February 3, 1958 in Cary, OH. The Dyers were residents of Vanlue, OH at the time of their deaths. Two daughters, Darlene and Delphine, survive. Also surviving Mr. Dyer are four half brothers, Jessie Collins of Wheatfield, IN, Acie Collins of Rennsalcar, IN, and Phillip Ray and Kindly Ray, both of Jeffersonville, KY. Two sisters, Mrs. Shirley Craft, and Mrs. Betty Jean Tompkins, live at LaPorte, IN. He married ARMINTA GULLETT, daughter of WILLAM GULLETT and DELILAH AUSTIN, April 5, 1889 in Magoffin County, Kentucky. She was born March 19, 1873 in Magoffin County, Kentucky, died April 11, 1954 in Paintsville, Johnson County, Kentucky, and is buried in Old Town Cemetery in Paintsville, Johnson County, Kentucky.

Notes: Arminta Gullett was the sister of Malcolm "Mack" Gullett and of Mary Alice Gullett, who married Grigsby Blanton, son of William Emerson Blanton and Elizabeth Pace.

According to Kentucky marriage record transcripts, John E. Litteral married Arminta Gullett on April 5, 1889 in Magoffin County at the home of William Gullett. The witnesses were William Gullett and Samuel May, and the minister was G. W. Bailey.

Information found on the Johnson County Historical Society's website and a photo of their headstone shows that John E. Litteral died in February of 1923, and was buried in Old Town Cemetery in Paintsville, Johnson County, Kentucky, and that Minta Gullett Litteral lived from March 19, 1873 to April 11, 1954, and was buried in the same cemetery.

According to his death certificate, John E. Litteral died February 17, 1923 in Paintsville, Johnson County, Kentucky, from a prostatic abcess. Also on this certificate, his birthplace is listed as Kentucky, his age as 65, his marital status as married, his occupation as farmer, his parents as Wesley Litteral (b. Kentucky) and Eliza Pace (b. Kentucky), the informant as Malcolm Gullett of Paintsville, and the burial place as Paintsville.

According to Kentucky death record transcripts, John E. Letteral [sic] died February 17, 1923 in Johnson County at the age of 65.

"Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Third Street Freewill Baptist Church for Mrs. Minta Litteral, 81, who died suddenly at her home on Plum Street on Sunday.

"She was preceeded in death in 1923 by her husband, John E. Litteral.
"Surviving are four sons, William Litteral and Hobert Litteral, Ashland, Bruce Litteral, Catlettsburg, Roy Litteral, Bainbridge, Ohio; two daughters, Mrs. Maude Tackett, city, and Mrs. Cora Kimbler, Volga.
"Other survivors include two brothers, Mack Gullett, city, and Ollie Gullett, Salyersville, 28 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren.
"Bruce Daniel and Claude Preston were officiating ministers.
"Music was by the Paintsville Quartet.
"Burial was made in the Town Cemetery under the direction of Paintsville Funeral Home."
