She married FRED W. WALKER, son of JAMES FOSTER WALKER and KATHERINE DAVIS, December 7, 1889 in Johnson County. He was born October 30, 1870 in Kentucky, died November 14, 1939 in Quincy, Grant County, Washington, and is buried in Wenatchee Cemetery in Wenatchee, Chelan County, Washington.

In that book it says the Celia Ann Rice married Fred W. Walker and that their children were Elizabeth Walker (married James C. VanHoose), Josie Walker (married Eugene Preston), Andrew Kirk (Kirker) Walker, Flossie Walker, and Florence Walker. It also says:

     "James C. VanHoose was killed by a truck in 1926. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Preston live at Wenatchee, Washington."

Fred Walker was the brother of Della Walker, who was the 2nd wife of John Dixon.

Her husband is listed as Fred W. Walker.

According to her obituary, Mrs. Fred Walker, daughter of the late Samuel Rice, died in the first week of February in 1939 at her home in Wenatchee, Washington. She was a native of Johnson County and was survived by her husband; 3 brothers, I. G. Rice (Paintsville), John Rice (New York City), and Proctor Rice (Wenatchee, Washington); and 3 sisters, Mrs. Fonzo Conley (Staffordsville), Mrs. Dora Daniels (Wenatchee, Washington), and Mrs. "Mrtie" Shepherd (Wenatchee, Washington.

According to his obituary, Fred Walker (age 64), son of the late Foster and Kate Davis Walker, left Paintsville 30 years prior to his death, and located in Wenatchee, where he became an employee of the Great Northern Railroad. He died November 10, 1937 at home in Wenatchee, Washington, and was buried in Wenatchee. He was preceded in death by his wife [although she died February 9, 1939). He was survived by 1 son, Kirk Walker (of Wenatchee); 3 daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth VanHoose (Wenatchee), Mrs. Josie Preston (Wenatchee), and Mrs. Florence Huff (Wenatchee); 1 sister, Mrs. Della Dixon (Paintsville), and 1 half-sister, Miss Esta Walker. Cam VanHoose's full name was reportedly Cameron M. VanHoose.

According to their marriage certificate, Elizabeth Walker married Cam Vanhoose on June 28, 1911 in Grant County, Washington.

When Cam VanHoose's World War I draft registration card was filled out on June 5, 1917 in Johnson County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a clerk working for North East Coal Company in Thealka, Kentucky, that he was married, and that he was born January 14, 1890 in Paintsville, Kentucky. He was found to be of medium height and slender build, and he had blue eyes and light-colored hair.

Vanhoose lived from November 2, 1890 to March 7, 1992, and was buried in Wenatchee Cemetery in Wenatchee, Chelan County, Washington, and that C. M. Van Hoose lived from January 14, 1890 to September 12, 1924, and was buried in the same cemetery.

According to Social Security death record transcripts, Elizabeth E. Vanhoose was born November 2, 1890, and died March 7, 1992. She received her Social Security card prior to 1951 in Washington, and her last place of residence was in Seattle, King County, Washington.

According to Washington death record transcripts, Cane M. Van Hoose, son of James B. and Lottie Stambaugh Van Hoose, was born about 1889, and died September 12, 1924 in Wenatchee, Chelan County, at the age of 35. His wife's name is listed as Elizabeth Van Hoose.

She married EUGENE PRESTON, son of LAFAYETTE PRESTON and MALANA VANHOOSE, September 1, 1911 in Waterville, Douglas County, Washington. He was born October 29, 1890 in Paintsville, Johnson County, Kentucky, died September 30, 1953 in Wenatchee, Chelan County, Washington.

Eugene Preston was the brother of Forest B. Preston and Hershel Preston.

According to Kentucky marriage record transcripts, Lafayetta Preston (farmer, b. Johnson County, parents b. Johnson County, 2nd marriage, age 31) married Malissa Vanhoose (b. Fleming County, father b. Floyd County, 1st marriage, age 18) on August 8, 1877 in Johnson County.

According to her obituary found on The Johnson County Historical & Genealogical Society's website:

     "Mrs. Malania Preston Spears, age 79, died at the home of her son, Forest B. Preston, on the east side of the river near Paintsville last Sunday morning following an illness of a few weeks. Mrs. Preston was a member of one of the old and prominent families of the Big Sandy Valley and leaves many relatives and friends. She was one of the county’s best Christian women and long had been a member of the old United Baptist Church. Mrs. Preston had twice been married. Her first husband was the late Lafayette Preston who died thirty-one years ago. Her second marriage was to P.D. Spears who survives. Funeral services were held at the old Preston homestead at Thelma at 1 o’clock Monday evening and was in charge of Rev. Guy W. Preston. Burial followed in the old Preston cemetery at Thelma. A large number relatives and friends attended the funeral and burial. Besides her husband she is survived by seven sons and two daughters as follows: Ed Preston of Lebanon, Ohio; Forest B. and Cyrus Preston of Paintsville; Tom, Guy and Eugene Preston of Wenacchee, Washington; Herschel Preston of Jenkins, Ky.; Mrs. D. J. McCown, Nez Perce, Idaho, and Mrs. Dan Ward of Boyd County. She is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren." [Paintsville Herald Thursday September 9, 1964]

According to their marriage certificate, Josephine Walker married Eugene Preston on September 1, 1911 in Waterville, Douglas County, Washington. The witnesses were Cam VanHoose and Mrs. C.R. Longbrake, and the minister was C. R. Longbrake.

When Eugene Preston's World War I draft registration card was filled out on June 5, 1917 in West Nezperce, Lewis County, Idaho, he stated that he was a farmer working for Ralph Stigum in Nezperce, that he was married and had 1 child under 12, and that he was born October 29, 1890. He was found to be of medium height and build, and he had grey eyes and dark brown hair.

When Eugene (no middle name) Preston's World War II draft registration card was filled out on May 20, 1942 in Wenatchee, Chelan County, Washington, he stated that he was unemployed, that the person who would always know his address was Mrs. Eugene Preston of 536 Walker Street in Wenatchee, and that he was born October 29, 1890 in Paintsville, Kentucky. He was found to be 5 feet 8 1/2 inches tall, he weighed 140 pounds, he had blue eyes, brown hair, and a ruddy complexion, he had a birthmark on his abdomen, and he was missing his right eye.

Information found on findagrave.com along with a photo of her headstone, shows that Josephine Walker Preston lived from 1895 to 1994, and was buried in Wenatchee Cemetery in Wenatchee, Chelan County, Washington.

According to her obituary, Josephine Walker Preston (age 99) and her husband operated an apple orchard, and she also worked as a seamstress in Hayes Cleaners in Wenatchee in the 1950s. She was a resident of Snohomish, Washington, at the time of her death. She was born April 17, 1895 on the family farm near Paintsville, Kentucky, and the family moved to Coulee City in 1909. She died July 19, 1994, and was buried in Wenatchee Cemetery in Wenatchee. She married Eugene Preston on September 1, 1911 in Waterville, they moved to Wenatchee in 1917. He preceded her in death in 1953. She was also preceded in death by 2 sons; 2 daughters, 1 brother; and 3 sisters. She was survived by 1 daughter, Mary Ellen Preston (of Sacramento, California); 4 grandchildren; 4 great-granddaughters; and 3 step-great-grandchildren.

He married MARGARET LEONA MCBRYDE, daughter of GEORGE A. MCBRYDE and IDELLA TUNNEL, June 25, 1937. She was born October 29, 1900 in Wooten Wells, Robertson County, Texas, died December 30, 2002 in Marlin, Falls County, Texas, and is buried in Hillcrest Cemetery in Marlin, Falls County, Texas.

Notes: Kirk Walker's name was listed as Andrew Walker in the 1900 census.

When Kirk Waldon Walker's World War I draft registration card was filled out on September 12, 1918 in Wenatchee, Chelan County, Washington, he stated that he was working for the VanHoose Brothers in Wenatchee, that his closest relative was "Fred W. Walker father" of Wenatchee, and that he was born September 6, 1897. He was found to be 5 feet 11 inches tall, he weighed 189 pounds, and he had brown eyes, brown hair, and weak eyes.

Information found on findagrave.com and photos of their headstones shows that Kirk W. Walker lived from September 6, 1897 to April 6, 1973, and was buried in Hillcrest Cemetery in Marlin, Falls County, Texas, and that Margaret Leona Walker lived from 1900 to 1902, and was buried in the same cemetery.

According to his death certificate, Kirk W. Walker died April 6, 1973 in Marlin, Falls County, Texas, from arterclerotic heart disease, and congestive heart failure. Margaret worked as a Registered Nurse in Washington State as well as in Marlin for over 45 years. She lovingly attended many families in their need as a private nurse in the Robertson and Falls County areas in later professional life. She was privileged to administer one of the first private penicillin shots during World War II.
     "Margaret was a member of First United Methodist Church of Marlin from 1913 until moving to Bryan in 1986 where she came under the watch care of the First Baptist Church of Bryan. She had great affection for her Susanna Wesley Bible Class at First Methodist Church in Marlin, of which she was an active member for over 50 years.
     "Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, George A. and Idella Tunnel McBryde, her husband Kirk W. Walker and a sister, Mabel Bauman. She has lived under the watch care of her cousin, Betsy Leach Rowland and husband Sam Rowland for the past 17 years, blessing their lives greatly. Two dear friends, Betty Burnham and Pearlie Cooper of Bryan, also blessed her life.

He was found to be tall and slender, and he had blue eyes and dark-colored hair.

According to his obituary, Proctor William Rice was born December 10, 1882 near Paintsville, died in June of 1940 in Wenatchee County, Washington, after an illness of 4 days and following an operation, and was buried in the family lot in Wenatchee Cemetery. At the age of 16 he enlisted in the Spanish-American War, and then became a pioneer telegraph operator for the Great Northern Railroad of Quincy [Washington]. He moved to Amenia, North Dakota and married Hulda Schrader in 1908. About 1938 he moved to Quincy to live with his sister, Mrs. M. A. Sheppard. He was survived by one son, Everett Rice (Fairbanks, Alaska); 2 daughters, Mrs. Frank Sheer (Seattle, Washington) and Mrs. Helen Thompson (Spokane, Washington); 2 brothers, I. G. Rice (Paintsville, Kentucky) and John D. Rice (New York City); 4 sisters, Mrs. M.A. Sheppard (Quincy), Mrs. Dora Daniels (Quincy), Mrs. Phoebe Conley (Paintsville), and Mrs. Jane Caudill (Paintsville).

     "John D. Rice, Sr. 78, a real estate broker in New York City, died Sunday, April 22 [1962], in Grand Central Hospital in New York City after having suffered a stroke. A native of this county he was the son of the late Samuel M. and Martha Jane Witten Rice. He left Johnson County in 1903 and had lived in Yonkers 32 years. An army captain in World War I, Mr. Rice was with the first American tank unit in France and was chief instructor in automatic weapons in the first tank school there. He was a member of Polar Star Lodge of Masons in New York City. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Minnie Seitz Rice, whom he married 50 years ago; a son, Dr. John D. Rice, Jr., Colorado Springs, CO; a sister, Mrs. Artie Sheppard, Seattle, WV [sic]. Also surviving are two grandchildren. Seven sisters and four brothers preceded him in death. Two of the brothers were Link and I. G. Rice, Sr. Graveside rites were conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Samuel M. Rice Cemetery at Sitka. Rev. F. S. VanHoose and Rev. C. C. Hall were in charge of the services and the Disabled Veterans conducted the graveside ceremonies."

Blair Rice lived from March of 1876 to September 24, 1949, and was buried in the same cemetery, and that Ellis Rice lived from August 5, 1909 to 1941, and was buried in the same cemetery.

According to her death certificate, Martha E. Blair Rice died September 24, 1949 in Collista, Johnson County, Kentucky, from aortic regurgitation. Also on this certificate, her birthplace is listed as Johnson County, her birth date as February 4, 1876, her marital status as widowed, her parents as John P. Blair and Nancy Brown, and the burial place as Collista Cemetery.

Information found on findagrave.com and a photo of their headstone shows that Everett Witten Sr. lived from June 22, 1903 to March 16, 1963, and was buried in Witten Cemetery in Greenup County, Kentucky, and that Nellie E. Witten lived from February 19, 1904 to March 5, 1983, and was buried in the same cemetery.
