    SARAH A. VANHOOSE, daughter of WILLIAM CLARK VANHOOSE and MINERVA LEE BARNHART, was born March 14, 1860 in Johnson County, Kentucky, and died April 9, 1932 in Johnson County, Kentucky. She married WILLIAM HENRY "WILLIE DODGER" TRIMBLE, son of WILLIAM "UNCLE DODGER" TRIMBLE and CLARINDA ELLEN PICKLESIMER, February 18, 1884 in Johnson County, Kentucky. He was born November 22, 1861 in Johnson County, Kentucky, and died September 13, 1941 in Johnson County, Kentucky.

    Notes: According to Kentucky birth records, William H. Trimble was born November 22, 1861 in Johnson County to William Trimble and Clarinda E. P. Simer.

    According to his obituary, "William H. Trimble, age 78, familiarly known as "Willie Dodger", died at his home at Barnetts Creek, Saturday, September 13, (1941).  He had been in ill health for a year. Mr. Trimble had been known as one of the county's very best citizens and his passing will be regretted by a large number of relatives and acquaintances. He was a member of one of Johnson County's largest and most prominent families. He was the son of the late William (Uncle Dodger) Trimble and had lived the life of a rightous man. On February 18, 1884, he was married to Miss Sarah Van Hoose, who preceded him in death ten years ago. His entire life had been spent on Barnetts Creek. He is survived by the following children: Sudie Ealey, Barnett's Creek; Boe Trimble, Oil Springs; Floyd Trimble, Piketon, Ohio; J. V. Trimble, West Van Lear; Laura Trimble, at home; Pierce Trimble, Oil Springs, Newton Trimble, Red   Bush;  and Thurman Trimble, West Van Lear. In addition to the above named children he is also survived by one brother, Uncle Green Trimble, Barnetts Creek, and two sisters, Lydia Picklesimer, Oil SPrings, and Dollie Ratliff, Barnetts Creek. Mr. Trimble was a brother of the late J. Mark Trimble and Joe Trimble, who died a few years ago. He was a member of the United Baptist Church at Barnetts Creek. Funeral services were held at the home Sunday afternoon, with Reverends Hargus Conley, Millard O'Bryan, and Prater Blair officiating.  Burial was made in the home cemetery at Barnetts Creek. The undertaking department of the Paintsville Furniture Home had charge of the funeral and burial. A large number of relatives and friends attended the funeral and burial."     LEVI FAIRCHILD, son of FRANCES "FRANKIE" CANTRELL and ENOCH FAIRCHILD, was born June 28, 1831, Kentucky, died August 5, 1922 in Hager Hill, Johnson County, Kentucky, and is buried in the family cemetery in Hager Hill, Johnson County, Kentucky. He married JANE HORN, daughter of THOMAS HORN and NANCY BLAIR. She was born about 1843 in Kentucky, and died after 1920.

    Notes: Nancy Blair was the daughter of Noble Blair and Abigail Hayden. Her maiden name was confirmed by finding the death certificate of son. Thomas Horn Jr. died November 18, 1928 in Staffordsville, Johnson County, Kentucky, form apoplexy ceribral - complicated by senility. Also on this certificate, his birthplace is listed as Kentucky, his birthdate as April 9, 1844, his marital status as married, his occupation as farmer, his parents as Thomas Horn (b. North Carolina) and Nancy Blair (b. Kentucky), and the burial place as Staffordsville.

    According to his death certificate, Levi Fairchild died August 5, 1922 in Hager Hill from senility and valvular heart disease.     GRANVILLE CLINTON JACKSON, son of WILLIAM JACKSON and MARY A. SALYER, was born April 17, 1891 in Soto, Johnson County, Kentucky, died June 18, 1937 in North Fairview, Boyd County, Kentucky, and is buried in Dixon Cemetery in Ashland, Boyd County, Kentucky. He married (1) NANCY C. SALYER, daughter of JOSEPH F. SALYER and MARY JANE BLANTON. She was born September 8, 1882 in Kentucky, died January 27, 1924 in Flat Gap, Johnson County, Kentucky, and is buried in the family cemetery in Flat Gap, Johnson County, Kentucky. He married (2) BERTHA BARBER.

    Notes: When Clint Jackson's World War I draft registration card was filled out on June 5, 1917 in Johnson County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a self-employed farmer in Oil Springs [Johnson County], that he had a wife, 2 children and a mother that were dependant on him, and that he was born April 17, 1891 in Soto, Kentucky. He was found to be of medium height and slender build, and he had brown eyes and dark-colored hair.

    According to his obituary, Granville Clinton Jackson, son of William Jackson (b. Harlan County) and Mary Salyers Jackson (b. Johnson County), was born April 17, 1891 in Johnson County, died June 18, 1937 at home in West Fairview (near Ashland) after an illness of 10 months, and was buried in the Dixon Cemetery. Surviving him were his wife, Mrs. Bertha Jackson; 3 sons, Gratz Jackson, Clinton Jackson, and Robinson Caruso Jackson (all at home); a sister, Mrs. Cora Conley (Paintsville); and 1 brother, Milton Jackson (Flat Gap).

    According to his death certificate, Granville Clinton Jackson died June 18, 1937 in North Fairview from cardiac dropsy, flu, and malaria. Also on this certificate, his birthplace is listed as Johnson County, his birthdate as April 17, 1891, his marital status as married, his wife as Bertha Jackson, his occupation as common laborer, his parents as Wm. Jackson (b. Harlan County) and Mary Salyers (b. Johnson County), and the informant as Mrs. Cora Conley of Ashland, Kentucky.

    According to her death certificate, Nannie Salyer Jackson died January 27, 1924 in Flat Gap from pulmonary tuberculosis. Also on this certificate, her birthplace is listed as Kentucky, her birthdate as September 8, 1889 [mistake], her age as 41 years 3 months 19 days, her marital status as married, her parents as Joseph Salyer (b.     Notes: Reuben Dale's parents have been reported to be James and Jemima Dale, and he was reportedly the brother of Elizabeth Dale.

    Tabitha Selvage's name has also been reported to have been Tabitha Rose, which is what is on both daughter Judith's and daughter Charity's death certificates, Tabitha Collins, which is what is on son Arther's death certificate, and Tabitha Cole [it's spelled "Coal"], which is what is on son Henry's birth record. It was Tabitha Selvage on daughter Jeriah's birth record.

    Reuben Dale reportedly died about 1880 in Paintsville, Johnson County, Kentucky.

    Tabitha Selvage reportedly died October 4, 1882 in Johnson County.

He married ARMINTA FAIRCHILD, daughter of LEVI FAIRCHILD and JANE HORNE, October 13, 1900. She was born January 6, 1884 in Johnson County, Kentucky, died October 2, 1939 in Paintsville, Johnson County, Kentucky, and is buried in Wells Cemetery in Paintsville, Johnson County, Kentucky. Dennis Conley married (2) CHLOIE COLLINS.

    Notes: Dennis Conley enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1898 for the Spanish-American War.

    Dennis was the 1st U.S. Mail carrier in Paintsville.

    When Dennis B. Conley's World War I draft registration card was filled out on September 12, 1918 in Paintsville, Johnson County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a repairman in the mines, that he was working in Williamson, Mingo County, West Virginia, that his closest relative was "Minta Conley Wife" of Denver, Johnson County, and that he was born November 24, 1875. He was found to be of medium height and slender build, and he had blue eyes and black hair.

    According to his obituary, Dennis B. Conley, son of the late Hiram E. and Clarendia Rice Conley and a veteran of the Spanish-American War, was born November 24, 1875 in Johnson County, died at home in Paintsville on September 18, 1954, and was buried in Wells Cemetery.     Notes: When Robert Crace's World War I draft registration card was filled out on September 12, 1918 in Paintsville, Johnson County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a mill hand for the Penn Furn. Co. in Riceville, Johnson County, that his closest relative was in Mrs. Martha Crace of Riceville, and that he was born August 9, 1881. He was found to be of medium height and build, and he had black eyes and black hair.

    Notes: According to "The Conley Clan of Eastern Kentucky," published and sold by The Magoffin County Historical Society (page 296), Harvey Burns Conley was born September 3, 1861, died February 1, 1941 in Paintsville, and was buried in Little Mudlick. He married Arminta Jane Rice, daughter of Wallace Bailey Rice and Elizabeth Butler, October 25, 1882. She was born September 25, 1869, and was buried in Little Mudlick.

    According to his obituary, Reverend Harvey Burns Conley (age 79), son of the late Judge Hiram E. Conley and Clerinda Rice Conley, married Minta Jane Rice (daughter of Wallace B. and Elizabeth Butler Rice, and who preceded him in death) in 1883, died February 1, 1941 at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Grover Crider in Stafford Addition [Paintsville], and was buried in the family cemetery in Little Mud Lick. He had been ill for more than a year and died from pneumonia. He was 1 of 11 children, 1 daughter and 10 sons, 4 of whom were still living; Mrs. Colfax Butler (of Paintsville), Dennis B. Conley (Paintsville), Cyrus Conley (Paintsville), and Reverend John E. Conley (Auxier). The 6 brothers who preceded him in death were Franklin Pierce Conley, Manford Fleming Conley, George W. Conley, Sidney Bascom Conley, Frederick W. Conley, and Albert Conley. He was also preceded in death by 1 son, Theodore Conley (who preceded him in death 39 years prior) and was survived by 1 son, Herbert L. Conley (who was a patient in the Veteran's Hospital in Perry Point, Michigan; 2 daughters, Virgie Lee McCann (of Lawshe, Ohio) and Mayme Crider (Paintsville); 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

    Notes: According to his obituary, D.B. Pelphrey, son of the late Harris and Mary Spradlin Pelphrey, was a teacher of Johnson County schools for a number of years. He was born June 21, 1885 in Johnson County, and died December 27, 1944 at home in Lancaster. He married Beulah S. Carson of Stanford, Kentucky, and she, along with her only daughter, Nell Pelphrey survived him. He was also survived by 5 brothers, Don Pelphrey (of Denver, Kentucky), Paris Pelphrey (Baltimore, Maryland), Ray Pelphrey (Pikeville), Labe Pelphrey (Paintsville), and J.H. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosella Webb Davis, on March 5, 1958.
