He married (1) NANCY C. SALYER, daughter of JOSEPH F. SALYER and MARY JANE BLANTON, about 1907. She was born September 8, 1882 in Kentucky, died January 27, 1924 in Flat Gap, Johnson County, Kentucky, and is buried in the family cemetery in Flat Gap, Johnson County, Kentucky. He married (2) BERTHA BARBER.

Notes: When Clint Jackson's World War I draft registration card was filled out on June 5, 1917 in Johnson County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a self-employed farmer in Oil Springs [Johnson County], that he had a wife, 2 children and a mother that were dependent on him, and that he was born April 17, 1891 in Soto, Kentucky. He was found to be of medium height and slender build, and he had brown eyes and dark-colored hair.

According to his death certificate, Granville Clinton Jackson died June 18, 1937 in North Fairview from cardiac dropsy, flu, and malaria. Also on this certificate, his birthplace is listed as Johnson County, his birth date as April 17, 1891, his marital status as married, his wife as Bertha Jackson, his occupation as common laborer, his parents as Wm. Jackson (b. Harlan County) and Mary Salyers (b. Johnson County), the informant as Mrs. Cora Conley of Ashland, Kentucky, and the burial place as Dixon Cemetery.

According to his obituary, Granville Clinton Jackson, son of William Jackson (b. Harlan County) and Mary Salyers Jackson (b. Johnson County), was born April 17, 1891 in Johnson County, died June 18, 1937 at home in West Fairview (near Ashland) after an illness of 10 months, and was buried in the Dixon Cemetery. Surviving him were his wife, Mrs. Bertha Jackson; 3 sons, Gratz Jackson, Clinton Jackson, and Robinson Caruso Jackson (all at home); a sister, Mrs. Cora Conley (Paintsville); and 1 brother, Milton Jackson (Flat Gap).

According to her death certificate, Nannie Salyer Jackson died January 27, 1924 in Flat Gap from pulmonary tuberculosis. Information on this family can also be found on page 488 of the book "Johnson County, Kentucky: A History of the County, and Genealogy of Its People Up to the Year 1927" by Mitchell Hall. In that book it says that Den B. Conley married Mint Fairchild, daughter of Levi Fairchild, and their children were Mabel Conley (married Work Hazelett), Mattie Conley (married Earl McCloud), and Dorothy "Sister" Conley. It also says "Den Conley lived for many years on the Middle Fork of Jennie's Creek. He moved to Paintsville a few years ago, and has been a mail carrier for the local post office." Isaac Earl McCloud put in an application for a veteran's headstone for Dennis Conley on July 27, 1955, and the application was approved. On that application it says that Dennis enlisted in Co. M 3rd Kentucky Inf. on June 20, 1898, and was honorably discharged on May 16, 1899. It also says that his birth date was unknown and that he died on September 18, 1954.

According to Kentucky birth records, Denis P. Conley was born November 24, 1875 in Johnson County to Hiram E. Conley (b. Floyd County) and Clarinda Rice (b. Floyd County).

According to Kentucky marriage record transcripts, Dennis B. Conley (age 25) married Minta Fairchild (age 16) on October 13, 1900 in Johnson County.

When Dennis B. Conley's World War I draft registration card was filled out on September 12, 1918 in Paintsville, Johnson County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a repairman in the mines, that he was working in Williamson, Mingo County, West Virginia, that his closest relative was "Minta Conley Wife" of Denver, Johnson County, and that he was born November 24, 1875. He was found to be of medium height and slender build, and he had blue eyes and black hair.

Information found on The Johnson County Historical Society's website, shows that Dennis B. Conley was born November 24, 1875, died September 18, 1954, and was buried in J. B. Wells Cemetery in Paintsville, and that Mintie Fairchild Conley was born January 6, 1884, died October 2, 1939, and was buried in the same cemetery.

According to his obituary, Dennis B. Conley, son of the late Hiram E. and Clarendia Rice Conley, was a veteran of the Spanish-American War. He was born November 24, 1875 in Johnson County, died at home in Paintsville on September 18, 1954, and was buried in Wells Cemetery. He was 1st married to Mintie Fairchild, who preceded him in death on October 2, 1939. They had 3 daughters. He then married Chloie Collins, who survived him. He was also survived by 3 daughters, Mrs. Warrick Hazelett (of Paintsville), Mrs. Earl McCloud (Paintsville), and Mrs. Jim Patton (Circleville, Ohio); 1 sister, Mrs. Dick Butler [Emily Jane Conley Butler] (Loiusa, Kentucky); 4 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

According to Kentucky death record transcripts, Dennis B. Conley died September 18, 1954 in Johnson County at the age of 78.

According to her death certificate, Minta Fairchild Conley died October 2, 1939 in Paintsville, Johnson County, Kentucky, from a coronary occlusion. Also on this certificate, her birthplace is listed as Kentucky, her birth date as January 6, 1884, her marital status as married, her husband as Dennis B. Conley (age 64), her parents as Levi Fairchild (b. Kentucky) and Jane Horn (b. Kentucky), the informant asa D. B. Conley of Paintsville, and the burial place as Wells Cemetery.

According to her obituary, Mintie Fairchild Conley, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Levi Fairchild, was born in Johnson County, died at home in Paintsville on October 2, 1939 at the age of 55, and was buried in Wells Cemetery. It was believed that she died from the effects of a severe case of blood poisoning that she had a few months prior. She was survived by her husband; 3 daughters, Mrs. Warrick Hayslett (of Jennies Creek), Mrs. Earl McCloud (Paintsville), and Miss Marjorie Conley (living at home); and 2 sisters, Mrs. Clarenda Fitzpatrick (Jennies Creek) and Mrs. T. J. Leek (Portsmouth, Ohio).

According to Kentucky death record transcripts, Minta Conley died October 2, 1939 in Johnson County at the age of 55. She was living in Johnson County at the time of her death.

He married RACHEL EMALINE BAYES daughter of JAMES JACKSON BAYES and CAROLINE PICKLESIMER, about 1884. She was born July of 1871 in Johnson County, Kentucky, died July 16, 1948 in Riceville, Johnson County, Kentucky, and is buried in Johnson County, Kentucky.

Notes: Rachel Bayes was adopted by Ransom and Delila Picklesimer Shaver in the 1870s. Her parents are listed as Jack and Caroline Picklesimer Bayes on her death certificate. She was the sister of David Sherman "Bud" Bayes.

There was an unnamed Spradlin child born June 1, 1903 in Johnson County to Elliot Spradlin (b. Johnson County) and Emma Bayes (b. Johnson County). This could have been their son Dord.

She was born about 1868 in Kentucky, died March 27, 1947 in Swamp Branch, Johnson County, Kentucky, and is buried in Swamp Branch, Johnson County, Kentucky.

Notes: David Sherman "Bud" Bayes was the brother of Rachel Emaline Bayes.

She was born April 20, 1871 in Magoffin County, Kentucky, died September 24, 1936 in Ashland, Boyd County, Kentucky, and is buried in Oil Springs, Johnson County, Kentucky. Martha Jackson married (2) ROBERT CRACE about 1915. He was born August 9, 1881 in Kentucky.

Notes: When Robert Crace's World War I draft registration card was filled out on September 12, 1918 in Paintsville, Johnson County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a mill hand for the Penn Furn. Co. in Riceville, Johnson County, that his closest relative was in Mrs. Martha Crace of Riceville, and that he was born August 9, 1881. He was found to be of medium height and build, and he had black eyes and black hair.

According to his death certificate, Elzie Litteral died August 3, 1914 in Hager Shoal from a cerebral hemorrhage and a depressed fracture of the top of his skull caused by an explosion in a coal mine. Also on this certificate, his birthplace is listed as Johnson County, his birth date as 1872, his age as 42, his marital status as married, his occupation as coal miner, his parents as Flem Litteral (b. Johnson County) and Jane Blair (b. Johnson County), and the informant as Bruce Litteral of Oil Springs. Bruce Litteral was Elzie's brother.

According to her death certificate, Mrs. Martha Crace died September 24, 1936 in Ashland from bronchopneumonia. Also on this certificate, her birthplace is listed as Magoffin County, her birth date as April 20, 1875, her marital status as married, her husband as Robert Crace, her parents as Robin Jackson (b. Kentucky) and Elizabeth Salyers (b. Kentucky), and the informant as Owen Riffe of Ashland, Kentucky.

He married ARMINTA JANE RICE, daughter of WALLACE BAILEY RICE and ELIZABETH BUTLER, October 26, 1882 in Johnson County, Kentucky. She was born March 11, 1866 in Johnson County, Kentucky, died September 26, 1915 in Paintsville, Johnson County, Kentucky, and is buried in Little Mud Lick, Johnson County, Kentucky.

Notes: According to "The Conley Clan of Eastern Kentucky," published and sold by The Magoffin County Historical Society (page 296), Harvey Burns Conley was born September 3, 1861, died February 1, 1941 in Paintsville, and was buried in Little Mudlick. He married Arminta Jane Rice, daughter of Wallace Bailey Rice and Elizabeth Butler, October 25, 1882. She was born September 25, 1869, and was buried in Little Mudlick.

Information on this family can also be found on pages 460 & 486 of the book "Johnson County, Kentucky: A History of the County, and Genealogy of Its People Up to the Year 1927" by Mitchell Hall. In that book it says that H. B. "Burns" Conley married Mintie Jane Rice, daughter of W. B. Rice, and their children were Theodore (died at the age of 20), Virgie, Herbert (married Jess Atwood), and Mamie. It also says "'Burns' Conley has always lived in Paintsville and in Johnson County. He has managed several hotels in the city, and has been interested in several business enterprises. He is a very popular man and has a large following, as evidenced by the fact that he was elected judge of the county on one occasion, and ran a close race at another time. Mr. Conley is a leading minister of the Freewill Baptist Church and does much to advance its cause. He has probably married more couples than any man now living in the county."

Harvey Burns Conley (age 79), son of the late Judge Hiram E. and Clerinda Rice Conley, was the County Judge for 5 years, served 1 term as County Assessor, 1 term as Master Commissioner, 2 terms as a member of the Board of Education of Paintsville City Schools, and was a Baptist minister for the Freewill Baptist Church for 58 years. He died February 1, 1941 at the Stafford Addition [Paintsville] home of a daughter, Mrs. Grover Crider, and was buried in the family cemetery on Little Mud Lick. He had been ill for more than a year and died from pneumonia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Minta Jane Rice, daughter of Wallace B. and Elizabeth Butler Rice, whom he married in 1883; 1 son, Theodore Conley, who died 39 years prior; and 6 brothers, Franklin Pierce Conley, Manford Fleming Conley, George W. Sidney Bascom Conley, Frederick W. Conley, and Albert Conley. He was survived by 1 son, Herbert L. Conley (a patient in Veterans Hospital in Perry Point, Michigan; 2 daughters, Virgie Lee McCann (Lawshe, Ohio) and Mayme Crider; 6 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchilren. Notes: Chaney Cole's father's name has also been reported to having been "Jackson," but it's "Manual" on Chaney's death certificate.

He married BEULAH S. CARSON, daughter of WILL A. CARSON and NELLIE W. YANTIS, about 1908. She was born in September of 1883 in Kentucky, and died November 3, 1955 in Garrard County, Kentucky.

Notes: According to her death certificate, Nell Yantis Carson died August 30, 1941 in Henry County from lobar pneumonia following a fractured hip. Also on this certificate, her birthplace is listed as Garrard County, her birth date as May 12, 1863, her marital status as widowed, her husband as W. A. Carson, her parents as Harvey Yantis (b. When Bascom Pelphrey's World War I draft registration card was filled out on September 12, 1918 in Lancaster, Garrard County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a farmer working for Rice & Pelphrey in Lancaster, that his closest relative was Beulah Pelphrey of Lancaster, and that he was born June 21, 1885. He had grey eyes and brown hair.

According to his death certificate, D. Bascom Pelphrey died December 27, 1944 in Lancaster, Garrard County, Kentucky, from a cerebral hemorrhage. Also on this certificate, his birthplace is listed as Johnson County, his birth date as June 21, 1885, his marital status as married, his wife as Beulah C. Pelphrey, his occupation as salesman, his parents as Harris Pelphrey (b. Johnson County) and Mary Spradlin (b. Johnson County), the informant as Mrs. D. B. According to his obituary, D. B. Pelphrey, son of the late Harris and Mary Spradlin Pelphrey, was a teacher of Johnson County schools for a number of years. He was born June 21, 1885 in Johnson County, and died December 27, 1944 at home in Lancaster. He married Beulah S. Carson of Stanford, Kentucky, and she, along with her only daughter, Nell Pelphrey survived him. He was also survived by 5 brothers, Don Pelphrey (of Denver, Kentucky), Paris Pelphrey (Baltimore, Maryland), Ray Pelphrey (Pikeville), Labe Pelphrey (Paintsville), and J. H. Pelphrey (Paintsville); and 2 sisters, Mrs. Lawrence Conley and Mrs. Irvin Spradlin.

According to Kentucky death record transcripts, D. B. Pelphrey died December 27, 1944 in Garrard County at the age of 59. He was living in Garrard County at the time of his death.

According to Kentucky death record transcripts, Beulah C. Pelphrey died November 3, 1955 in Garrard County at the agte of 73. She was living in Garrard County at the time of her death.

Brushy Fork Cemetery is also known as Cooper Cemetery, Mouth of Brushy Cemetery, and Tommie Cooper Cemetery.

Information found on the Johnson County Historical Society's website shows that Rosella Webb Davis lived from June 15, 1884 to March 5, 1958, and was buried in Davis Cemetery at the mouth of Davis Branch in Johnson County, Kentucky, and that Lon Davis lived from June 7, 1880 to november 24, 1964, and was buried in the same cemetery. No photos of their headstones are provided.

According to his death certificate, there was an unnamed baby boy who was stillborn to Lon Davis (b. Kentucky) and Rosella Webb (b. Kentucky) on May 18, 1925 in Van Lear, Johnson County, Kentucky. Also on this certificate, the informant's name is listed as Bert Young of Van Lear, and the burial place as Thelma, Kentucky.

When Alonzo Davis' World War I draft registration card was filled out on September 12, 1918 in Paintsville, Johnson County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a miner working for Consolidation Coal Company in Van Lear, Johnson County, that his closest relative was Rosella Davis of Van Lear, and that he was born June 7, 1880. He was found to be of medium height and build, and he had gray eyes and brown hair.

According to his obituary, Lon Davis (age 82), son of the late Bracken and Mary Conley Davis, was a retired miner from Van Lear. He was born June 7, 1880 in Johnson County, died November 24, 1962 at the home of his son, Frank Davis, after an extended illness, and was buried in the Davis Cemetery on Davis Branch. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosella Webb Davis, on March 5, 1958. He was survived by 2 sons, Frank Davis (of Van Lear) and Cecil Davis (West Van Lear); 4 daughters, Mrs. Bert Young (West Van Lear), Mrs. Calvin Webb (Van Lear), Mrs. Fred Mollett (David), and Mrs. Garland Hall (Oakwood, California); 1 sister, Mrs. John Welch (Concord); 15 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
