He married ELIZA LESTER, daughter of LINDSEY LESTER and NANCY OSBORN, about 1905. She was born October 29, 1873 in Blaine, Lawrence County, Kentucky, died June 19, 1934 in Ashland, Boyd County, Kentucky, and is buried in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland, Boyd County, Kentucky.
Notes: When Paris Pelphrey's World War I draft registration card was filled out on September 12, 1918 in Paintsville, Johnson County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a self-employed merchant and mine operator in Denver, Johnson County, his closest relative was Eliza Pelphrey of Denver, and that he was born December 27, 1882. He was found to be of medium height and stout build, and he had blue eyes and red hair.
According to his obituary, Paris Pelphrey (age 73), son of Samuel H. and Mary Spradlin Pelphrey, was born December 27, 1882 in Johnson County, died March 24, 1956 in a Lexington hospital, and was buried in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Elsie Pelphrey. He was survived by 2 sons, Paris A. Pelphrey (of English, West Virginia) and Walter Pelphrey (Ashland); 2 daughter, Mrs. Edward Barbee (Ashland) and Mrs. John J. Ginter (Detroit, Michigan); 2 sisters, Mrs. Irvin Spradlin (Paintsville) and Mrs. Frankie Conley (Johnson City, Tennessee); and 4 brothers, J.H. Pelphrey (Paintsville), Labe Pelphrey (Paintsville), Don Pelphrey (Denver, Kentucky), and Ray Pelphrey (Pikeville). According to her death certificate, Eliza Lester Pelphrey died June 16, 1934 in Ashland from apoplexy. Also on this certificate, her birthplace is listed as Blaine, Kentucky, her birthdate as October 29, 1873, her marital status as married, her husband as Paris Pelphrey, her parents as Lindsey Lester and Nancy Osborn, the informant as Paris Pelphrey, and the burial place as Rose Hill Cemetery.
According to her obituary, Eliza Lester Pelphrey, died suddenly on June 19, 1934 in Ashland from a stroke, and was buried in Rose Hill Cemetery. She was survived by her husband, Paris Pelphrey (a well-known Ashland grocer); 2 sons, Walter Pelphrey (Paintsville) and Paris Allison Pelphrey (at home); 2 daughters, Beulah and Mary Maxie Pelphrey (at home); 1 brother, C.L. Lester (Denver, Kentucky), and 3 sisters, Mrs. Emma Skaggs (Russell, Kentucky), Mrs. Mary Gambill (Jenkins, Kentucky), and Mrs. T.L. Tilson (Hillards, Ohio).
