He married (1) LAURA EMILY BAYS, daughter of CHARLES J. BAYS and MAHALA GEORGE, about 1882. She was born May 24, 1858 in Sandy Win, Floyd County, Kentucky. He married (2) CALLIE REED, daughter of JAMES H. SPRADLIN and MARTHA REED, about 1894. She was born January 18, 1874 in Johnson County, Kentucky, and died February 27, 1920, Johnson County, Kentucky. He married (3) MARTHA LITTERAL. She was born about 1887 in Kentucky. Martha Litteral married (1) WILLIAM ELZIE LITTERAL, son of HAIRSTON LITTERAL and KATHERINE RAMEY.     According to his obituary, William Henry Conley, son of John and Cynthia Conley, was born July 24, 1859 in Johnson County, lived in Johnson County his entire life, married Laura Bayes and after she died he married Callie Spradlin. She died February 27, 1920, and William later married Mrs. Martha Litteral, widow of the late Judge W.E. Litteral. He was survived by his wife; 1 daughter, Mrs. George Blanton (Mt. Sterling; 3 sons, George W. Conley (Ashland), Ben Conley (Ashland, and Wayne Conley (Oil Springs); and 2 brothers, Frank Conley (Paintsville) and George Conley (Oil Springs). The obituary also says "Beginning life in modest circumstances, Mr. Conley, by diligent work and economy accumulated a considerable fortune during his lifetime. Primarily a farmer he acquired a large tract of land in Johnson and Magoffin Counties. This now remains in one tract, the property of his estate. On this land much of the oil and gas was found during the development several years ago. This land proved to be very valuable and constituted the chief asset and foundation of his business success. During his lifetime he was identified with some of the most progressive businesses in Johnson County. At the time of his death he was Vice-President and member of the Board of Directors of the Second National Bank of Paintsville. He was also vice- president of the Sandy Valley Grocery Company. He and his sons were among the original organizers of this company.. He was one of the guiding influences in these two strong businesses and much of their growth and success has been attributed to his sound business judgment."

He was found to be of medium height and build, and he had light blue eyes and light brown hair.

    Notes: According to the book "The Conley Clan of Eastern Kentucky," published and sold by The Magoffin County Historical Society, there was another daughter in this family - Viola. Viola married Earl Ferguson and they had 6 children; Hazel, Virginia, Edna, J.B. "Bill", Jean, and Bobby. This Viola is found in the 1900 census as the step-grandaughter of John H. Conley and the granddaughter of Martha Crace Conley from her first marriage to John Dixon Conley.

    When George Conley's World War I draft registration card was filled out on September 12, 1918 in Paintsville, Johnson County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a self-employed farmer in Niles, Johnson County, that his closest relative was America Conley of Niles, and that he was born February 11, 1875. He was found to be 5 feet 8 inches tall, of medium build, and he had light brown eyes and slightly gray hair.

    According to his death certificate, George Conley died March 20, 1950 in Oil Springs from bronchial pneumonia. Also on this certificate, his birthplace is listed as Johnson County, his birthdate as February 11, 1875, his marital status as married, his parents as John Conley and Cynthia Collins, the informant as Dave Thomas, and the doctor as Grant Rice [Ulysses Grant Rice].

On page 28 of the same book, it says that Ruie Blanton, daughter of Dorcas Fairchild and Rosco Blanton, married a man by the name of Ollie Conley - no children are listed. There is no other evidence that shows that this Ruie Blanton did marry at all. She is found as Miss Ruie Blanton in both of her parents obituaries when they died in 1953. Her name is listed as Rouie Blanton in her own obituary in 1962, and the only dependents that she has are brothers and sisters. Her obituary and death record transcript will both be listed here for future reference.

    According to her obituary, Rouie Blanton (age 56), daughter of Roscoe and Darcus Fairchild Blanton and a resident of Oil Springs, was born October 11, 1905 in Johnson County, lived her entire life in Johnson County, died March 19, 1962 in a local Johnson County hospital after an illness of 6 months, and was buried in the Blanton Cemetery.     Notes: James Vencill was the brother of Roy Vencill.

    Martha Bates' maiden name has also been reported as Martha J. Smiley.

    According to Army enlistment records, James H. Vencille enlisted for 3 years in March of 1907 in Columbus Ohio. He was a farmer, 21 years and 1 month old, born in Knott County, Kentucky, he had blue eyes, light brown hair and a light complexion, he was 5 feet 4 inches tall, and he was discharged March 9, 1910 at Fort Wayne, Michigan.

    When James Henry Vencill's World War I draft registration card was filled out on June 5, 1917 in Highland Park, Wayne County, Michigan, he stated that he was a machinist of the Ford Motor Company in Highland Park, that he was married and had 2 children, that he was a veteran having spent 3 years as a private in the infantry in the Phillipine Islands, that he was 30 years old, and that he was born January 27, 1877 [mistake] in Knott County, Kentucky. He was found to be of medium height and build, and he had blue eyes and light-colored hair.

    According to Ohio death record transcripts, Nancy Vencill died December 11, 1961 in Mt. Carmel Medical Center in Columbus, Franklin County, at the age of 71. She was widowed at the time of her death.
