    Walter Vaughn, 77, retired schoolteacher, died of a heart attack at his home at Leander at 11:30 p.m., Sunday, August 7 1955. The son of the late John and Sarah Mace Vaughan, he was born March 16, 1878, in Floyd County. He was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge. One of the county`s outstanding teachers and a leader in the educational field, he was widely know in this section where his energies were directed toward the development of the youth of the communities and the advancement of educational opportunities. His wife Callie Conley Vaughan, preceded him in death two years ago. He is survived by one son, Nolan Vaughan, Leander, who is a teacher in the Johnson County Schools. Funeral services were conducted from the Leander School Tuesday, August 9, at 1:00 p.m., by Scott Castle. Music was by the Toms Creek Quartet.
