JOHN ELICK WILES, son of ELLEN VICTORIA SLUSHER and GEORGE WASHINGTON "WASH" WILES, was born December 1, 1886 in Waldron, Scott County, Arkansas, died in September of 1939 in Oklahoma, and is buried in Fairview Cemetery in Panama, Le Flore County, Oklahoma. He married ETHEL E. CAGLE, daughter of THOMAS A. CAGLE and SUSANNAH A. COX. She was born March 29, 1896 in Oklahoma, died February 18, 1973 in Poteau, Le Flore County, Oklahoma, and is buried in Fairview Cemetery in Panama, Le Flore County, Oklahoma.

Notes: John Wiles reportedly died in a mining accident.

According to their marriage certificate, T. A. Cagle married Susannah Cox on May 7, 1890 in Texas County, Missouri.

When John Elick Wiles' World War I draft registration card was filled out on June 5, 1917 in Panama, Oklahoma, he stated that he was a self-employed farmer, that he was married, and that he was born December 1, 1888 in Waldron, Arkansas. He was found to be tall, of medium build, and he had gray eyes and brown hair. Not being able to read or write, he signed the card with an "X."

Information found on findagrave.com shows that John and Ethel Wiles were both buried in Fairview Cemetery in Panama, Le Flore County, Oklahoma. No headstone photos are provided.

According to Social Security death record transcripts, John Wiles was born December 1, 1888, and died in September of 1939. He received his Social Security card prior to 1951 in Oklahoma.

"Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 20, 1973, at First Assembly of God Church in Poteau, Oklahoma, at 2:00 p.m., for Mrs. Ethel E. Wiles. Reverend J. A. Hobson and Reverend Jessie Parnell officiated.

"Mrs. Wiles was born March 29, 1896. She passed away February 18, 1973.

"Surviving are one daughter, one brother, three sisters, seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

"Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery at Panama, Oklahoma. Evans Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements."

Belcher lived from July 19, 1920 to May 7, 2004, and was buried in the same cemetery.
      According to Social Security applications and claims indexes, Augustine Wiles Belcher was born May 5, 1923 in Hot Springs, Arkansas, and died July 10, 1996. Her name was listed as Augustine Wiles in May of 1942, as Augustine Belcher in September of 1955, and her parents as John Wiles and Ethel Cagle.

LILLIE WILES, daughter of ELLEN VICTORIA SLUSHER and GEORGE WASHINGTON "WASH" WILES, was born November 20, 1889 in Arkansas. She married WILLIAM HENRY FEWELL about 1907. He was born April 17, 1879 in Arkansas.

Notes: Lillie Wiles name is listed as Nellie in the 1900 census, but as Lillie in the application that her father filled out in 1909 trying to get a portion of the money that was being paid out to Native Americans. It is found to be Lillie Fewell when the claim was rejected, and she lived in Panama, Oklahoma.

When William Henry Fewell's World War I draft registration card was filled out on September 12, 1918 in Poteau, Le Flore County, Oklahoma, he stated that he was a self-employed farmer in Panama, Le Flore County, that his closest relative was Lillie Fewell, and that he was born April 17, 1879. He was found to be short and slender, and he had brown eyes and black hair.

Hood lived from November 27, 1887 to March 10, 1961, and was buried in the same cemetery. Pearl's parents are buried there as well.

Salyers lived from March 11, 1887 to March 17, 1972, was buried in the same cemetery, and that Homer King [son-in-law] lived from October 17, 1921 to August 5, 1984, and was buried in the same cemetery.       According to her obituary, Mary Salyer King (age 85), daughter of the late Jake and Della Tackett Salyer, was born December 26, 1925 in Johnson County, died September 3, 2011 at home in Stambaugh, and was buried in King-Salyer Cemetery in Staffordsville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Homer King; and 1 sister, Kathleen Buckheart Salyer. She was survived by 2 sons, Homer Darrell King (of Nancy, Kentucky) and Bobby Allen King (Hager Hill, Kentucky); 2 daughters, Vickie L. King (Stambaugh) and Florence Hannah (Hager Hill); 1 brother, John Jake Salyer Jr. (Tutor Key, Kentucky); 10 grandchildren; and several great- and great-great-grandchildren. Salyers King; 2 sons, Homer D. King (of Van Lear) and Bobby Allen King (Staffordsville); 1 daughter, Vicky Lynn King (Staffordsville); 1 foster daughter, Florence Hannah (Hager Hill); 3 brothers, Joe King (Staffordsville), Same King (Staffordsville), and John King (Staffordsville); 1 sister, Dorothy Wheeler (Staffordsville); 1 granddaughter, 6 step-grandchildren; and 3 step-great-grandchildren.
