JOHN REED CAUDILL JR., son of ELIZABETH F. CONLEY and JOHN REED CAUDILL, was born June 5, 1892 in Salyersville, Magoffin County, Kentucky, died September 5, 1927 in Gifford, Magoffin County, Kentucky, and is buried in Gifford, Magoffin County, Kentucky. He married MYRTLE REED. She was born about 1891 in Kentucky, and died about 1939.

Caudill Jr. was born in 1892 and died in 1927, and that Myrtle Reed Caudill was born in 1891, and died in 1939. John's death certificate was found but nothing on Myrtle. In 1930, several of their children are found living in the Masonic Widows & Orphans Home in Jefferson County, Kentucky. Lerlean (age 12), Erin (age 9), Lorna (age 8), and Lida (age 5) are all found on page 13 of the 1930 census for District 56-213 (District 1) in Jefferson County, Kentucky (dated April 14, 1930). Morris P. Caudill is found on page 6.

When John Reed Caudill's World War I draft registration card was filled out on June 5, 1917 in Gifford, Magoffin County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a self-employed farmer in Gifford, that he had a dependent mother, wife, and child, that he had weak eyes, and that he was born June 5, 1892 in Salyersville, Kentucky. He was found to be of medium height and build, and he had blue eyes and brown hair.

According to his death certificate, John R. Caudill Jr. died September 5, 1927 in Gifford, Magoffin County, Kentucky, from typhoid fever. Also on this certificate, his birthplace is listed as Magoffin County, his birth date as June 5, 1892, his marital status as married, his occupation as farmer, his parents as John R. Caudill Sr. (b. Magoffin County) and Lizzie Conley (b. Magoffin County), the informan as Myrt Caulill of Gifford, and the burial place as the Myrt Caudill farm.

According to Kentucky death record transcripts, John R. Caudill Jr. died September 5, 1927 in Magoffin County at the age of 43.

On page 12 of the 1920 census for District 70 (Gifford) in Magoffin County, Kentucky (dated January 21, 1920), Johnny Caudill is listed as the head of the household for house #103, he's a farmer, born in Kentucky, parents born in Kentucky, and he's 29 years old. Also listed are Myrtle (wife, born in Kentucky, parents born in Kentucky, age 28), Maurice (son, born in Kentucky, age 3 years 7 months), Maxine (daughter, born in Kentucky, age 2 years 1 month), and Lizzie (mother, widowed, born in Kentucky, parents born in Kentucky, age 69).

Colvin lived from December 25, 1932 to February 16, 2006, and was buried in Elzie and Gracie Conley Cemetery in Falcon, Magoffin County, Kentucky, and that Henry Hoover "Jack" Colvin lived from May 30, 1929, and was buried in the same cemetery. A 2nd grave marker for Henry shows that he was a PFC in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

According to Social Security death record transcripts, Henry H. Colvin was born May 20, 1929, and died December 31, 1998. His last place of residence was in Salyersville, Magoffin County, Kentucky.

He was born February 26, 1890 in Swamp Branch, Johnson County, Kentucky, died May 30, 1958 in Johnson County, Kentucky, and is buried in the family cemetery in Johnson County, Kentucky.

Notes: When Sherman Blanton's World War I draft registration card was filled out on June 5, 1917, he stated that he was a farmer, that he was married and had a child, and that he was born February 26, 1890 in Leander, Kentucky. He was found to be tall, of medium build, and he had gray eyes and dark brown hair.

According to her obituary, Merva Lemaster Blanton, daughter of Will H. and Jane Trimble Lemaster, was born August 10, 1891 in Johnson County, died suddenly at home in Swamp Branch on March 31, 1954, and was buried in the family cemetery in Johnson County. She was survived by her husband, Sherman Blanton; 2 daughters, Mrs. Lora Lou Hackworth (Riceville) and Mrs. Nora Ellen Ramey (Tira, Ohio); 3 brothers, Tom Lemaster (Ohio), Trimble Lemaster (Riceville), and Charley Lemaster (Collista); and 4 sisters, Mrs. Callie Blanton (Riceville), Mrs. Dennis Williams [Cynthia Lemaster Williams] (Staffordsville), Mrs. Wayne Hannah (Jeffersonville, Ohio), and Mrs. Lace Brown [Cloie Lemaster Brown] (Ada, Ohio).

According to Kentucky death record transcripts, Merva Blanton died March 31, 1954 in Johnson County at the age of 62.

According to his obituary, Sherman Blanton (age 66), son of J. M. Blanton and Drucilla Blanton, was born February 26, 1890 in Johnson County, was a lifelong resident of Swamp Branch, died May 30, 1958 in a local Johnson County hospital, and was buried in the family cemetery. He was survived by his wife, Melvia Blanton; 2 daughters, Mrs. Fred Ramey (of Tero, Ohio) and Mrs. Robert Hackworth (Riceville); and 4 sisters, Callie Blanton [mistake - brother][ (Leander), Mrs. Delva Click (Swamp Branch), Mrs. Lon Lemaster (Collista), and Mrs. Clifford Blanton (Greenwich, Ohio). On page 22 of the 1930 census for District 58-8 (Magisterial District No. 3) in Johnson County, Kentucky (dated April 15, 1930), Sherman Blanton is listed as the head of the household for house #169, he's a farmer, born in Kentucky, parents born in Kentucky, first married at age 24, and he's 40 years old. Also listed are Manervie (wife, born in Kentucky, parents born in Kentucky, first married at 21, age 36), Nora E. (daughter, born in Kentucky, age 15), Lora L. (daughter, born in Kentucky, age 11), and William M. (son, born in Kentucky, age 9).

    The children of SHERMAN BLANTON and MERVA LEMASTER are:

Notes: When Bev Marcus May's World War I draft registration card was filled out on June 5, 1918 in Paintsville, Johnson County, Kentucky, he stated that he was working in Riceville, Johnson County, that his closest relative was Mary May of Riceville, that he was born September 12, 1896 in Johnson County, and that his father was born in Magoffin County. He was found to be tall, of medium build, and he had blue eyes and light-colored hair.

When Beverly Marcus May's World War II draft registration card was filled out on April 27, 1942 in Kanawha County, West Virginia, he stated that he didn't have an employer, that his closest relative was Doshia May of Roadfork, Kentucky, and that he was born September 12, 1895 in Johnson County, Kentucky. He was found to be 5 feet 10 inches tall, he weighed 145 pounds, and he had gray eyes, gray hair, and a light complexion.

According to Social Security death record transcripts, Beverly May was born September 12, 1895, and died in September of 1963. He received his Social Security card prior to 1951 in West Virginia, and his last place of residence was in Michigan.

On page 17 of the 1920 census for District 40 (Riceville) in Johnson County, Kentucky (dated February 2 & 3, 1920), Beverly May is listed as the head of the household for house #139, he's a farmer, born in Kentucky, parents born in Kentucky, and he's 23 years old. According to her obituary, Edna Rice Fitch Fraley (age 79), daughter of the late Rev. W. R. and Anna Akers Rice of Sitka, Kentucky, was a resident of Ypsilanti, Michigan, at the time of her death. She was born August 4, 1904 in Paintsville, died December 2, 1983 in St. Joseph Mercy Hospital following a short illness, and was buried in Cherry Hill Cemetery in Ypsilanti. She was married twice, first to Mac Fitch who preceded her in death in 1929. She was survived by her second husband, Rev. Dewey Fraley, whom she married on January 28, 1931. She was also survived by 2 sons, Donald Fitch (of Prestonsburg, Kentucky) and Paul Fitch (Belleville, Michigan); 2 daughters, Mrs. Elmer (Ann) Music (Canton, Michigan) and Mrs. Douglas (Josephine) Clark (Lakeland, Georgia); 3 brothers, J. According to his obituary, Mack Fitch died when a "car driven by R. C. Boyd with Mack Fitch and another party as passengers left the road near the mouth of Barnetts and turned over several times. Boyd and Fitch were traveling towards Salyersville when the car is reported to have plunged over a culvert. Mr. Boyd was thrown clear of the car but Fitch was caught under the wreckage and crushed to death. He died instantly. The bodies of the two men were picked up by passing motorists and brought to Paintsville where the body of Fitch was taken to the undertaking establishment of the Paintsville Furniture Company and prepared for burial. Mr. Boyd was taken to the Paintsville Hospital where he received medical attention and is recovering. Fitch is survived by his widow and four small children." There is a photo of Tobe's headstone but none of Spicy's.

According to his death certificate, Tobe McKenzie died May 12, 1931 in Little Gap, Johnson County, Kentucky, from nephritis complicated by tuberculosis. Also on this certificate, his birthplace is listed as Johnson County, his birth date as September 3 [no year], his marital status as married, his wife as Spicy Tackett, his occupation as farmer, his parents as W. J. McKenzie (b. Virginia) and Nancy Jane Rice (b. Kentucky), the informant as Floyd Lemaster of Staffordsville, Kentucky, and the burial place as the family cemetery in Lindbergh, Kentucky. It shows his birth date as September 3, but that was Spicy's birth date and it is written next to her name.
