MARY CATHERINE REEDER, daughter of NANCY EVELYN "AMY" CONLEY and GEORGE W. REEDER, was born January 23, 1878 in Lawrence County, Kentucky, and died in April of 1864 in Nebraska. She married (1) HARVEY MAROY MASTERS, son of GEORGE W. MASTERS and MIRIAM HAM, June 1, 1899. He was born in November 11, 1876 in Carter County, Kentucky, died September 11, 1937 in Muses Mill, Fleming County, Kentucky, and is buried in Muses Mill, Fleming County, Kentucky. They were divorced prior to 1905. She married (2) HENRY CHARLES JACKSON on May 28, 1910. He was born about 1872 in Wisconsin. Harvey Masters married (2) AMERICA L. A. MCROBERTS, daughter of MICHAEL P. MCROBERTS and HENRIETTA HILDERBRAND, May 19, 1906 in Rowan County, Kentucky. She was born in April of 1886 in Fleming County, Kentucky.

Notes: According to "The Conley Clan of Eastern Kentucky," published and sold by The Magoffin County Historical Society (page 528), Mary Catherine Reeder was born January 23, 1878 in Lawrence County, Kentucky, and died in April of 1964 in Nebraska. She married (1) Harvey Masters on June 1, 1899. She married (2) Henry Charles Jackson on May 28, 1910.

Mary Reeder's brother, David, married Harvey Masters' sister, Mary.

Henrietta Hilderbrand was the sister of America Hilderbrand, who married Mary Reeder's uncle, John Smith Conley. Henrietta's name is also found as "Hannah" in the census reports.

According to Kentucky marriage records, Harvey Masters (b. Carter County, father b. Ohio, mother b. Kentucky, resident of Rowan County, 2nd marriage, age 28) married America McRoberts (b. Fleming County, parents b. Rowan County, resident of Rowan County, 2nd marriage, age 19) on May 19, 1906 in Rowan County.

When Harvey Maroy Masters' World War I draft registration card was filled out on September 12, 1918 in Rowan County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a self-employed farmer in Rock Fork, Rowan County, that his closest relative was America Masters (wife) of Waltz, Rowan County, and that he was born November 11, 1876. He was found to be of medium height and slender build, and he had blue eyes.

According to his death certificate, Harvey Masters died September 11, 1937 in Muses Mill, Fleming County, Kentucky, from heart dropsy. Also on this certificate, his birthplace is listed as Kentucky, his age as 60 years and 10 months, his marital status as married, his occupation as timberman, his parents as George Masters (b. Kentucky) and Myram Hamm (b. Kentucky), the informant as Dollie Cooper, and the burial place as Muses Mill.

Mary Cyrus' maiden name was determined by finding her son Lindsey's West Virginia death record transcript (1874-1971). Her middle name was reportedly Frances.

According to West Virginia death record transcripts, Lindsey B. Staley, son of William H. Staley and Mary Cyrus, died June 12, 1971 in Wayne County.

According to Ohio birth record transcripts, William H. Kelly, son of Luke Kelly and Annie Rowe, was born February 2, 1883 in Perry Township, Lawrence County.

When Dayton Henry Staley's World War I draft registration card was filled out in Wayne County, West Virginia, he stated that he was a self-employed farmer in Kenova, West Virginia, that he was married, and that he was born November 1, 1892 in Kenova. He was found to be of medium height and build, and he had blue eyes and "leight" colored hair.

When Hans William Kelley's World War II draft registration card was filled out on April 27, 1942 in Gilmer County, West Virginia, he stated that he was working for Minter Homes Corporation in Huntington, Cabell County, West Virginia, that the person who would always know his address was Ethel Kelley, and that he was born February 22, 1882 in Deering, Ohio. He was found to be 5 feet 7 inches tall, he weighed 150 pounds, and he had brown eyes, gray hair (and balding), and a ruddy complexion.

Information found on findagrave.com and a photo of their headstone shows that Ethel Akers Staley lived from 1892 to 1951, and was buried in Cyrus Cemetery in Prichard, Wayne County, West Virginia, and that Dayton H. Staley lived from 1891 to 1920, and was buried in the same cemetery.

According to her death certificate, Ethyl A. Akers Kelly died June 12, 1951 in St. Mary's Hospital in Huntington, Cabell County, West Virginia, from some kind of problem with the brain [hard to read] and arteriosclerosis. Also on this certificate, her birthplace is listed as Johnson County, Kentucky, her birth date as June 5, 1892, her marital status as widowed, her occupation as school teacher, her parents as John C. Akers and Lou S. Davis, the informant as Hobart Akers, and the burial place as Cyrus Cemetery.

According to West Virginia death record transcripts, Ethyl Akers Kelly was born about 1892, and died June 12, 1951 in Huntington, Cabell County, at the age of 59. Her father's name is listed as John C. Akers, her mother's as Lou S. Davis, she was a school teacher and widowed at the time of her death.

He was born September 10, 1907 in Kentucky, died September 21, 1979 in Greenup County, Kentucky, and is buried in Rose Hill Burial Park and Mausoleum in Ashland, Boyd County, Kentucky.

According to one Kentucky death record transcript, Melda K. Burchwell died August 14, 1998 in Ashland, Boyd County, at the age of 90. She was living in Michigan at the time of her death. According to another, she died in Michigan and was living in Boyd County at the time of her death.

She married JAMES MARTIN BLANTON, son of WILLIAM A. BLANTON and DELILAH RICE, about 1890. He was born April 23, 1873 in Kentucky, died February 10, 1941 in Johnson County, Kentucky, and is buried in Jennies Creek, Johnson County, Kentucky.

Notes: James Martin Blanton married a lady by the name of Louise Jackson after Drucilla died.

According to her death certificate, Drucilla Blanton died November 16, 1933 in Leander from nephritis. Also on this certificate, her birthplace is listed as Johnson County, her birth date as October 12, 1863, her marital status as married, her husband as J. M. Blanton, her parents as Bill Blanton (b. Harland County, Kentucky) and Elzabeth Pace (b. McGoffin County, Kentucky), and the informant as Sherman Blanton of Swamp Branch.

While talking with the workers he fell to the ground and soon expired." He was buried in the family cemetery on Greasy Fork of Jennie's Creek. He was survived "by his widow and a number of children." When Frank Carrol Killin's World War I draft registration card was filled out on September 12, 1918 in Catlettsburg, Boyd County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a painter working for Kentucky Solvay and C. Company in Ashland, that his closest relative was Mrs. Emma Dorcas Killin, and that he was born November 6, 1884. He was found to be of medium height and build, and he had blue eyes and dark-colored hair.

Emma and Frank Killin are found still living together in a 1922 city directory for Ashland.

Information found on findagrave.com and a photo of their headstone shows that Emma D. Crossen lived from 1892 to 1973 and was buried in Section 12 of Ashland Cemetery in Ashland, Boyd County, Kentucky, and that Jason Crossen lived from 1901 to 1972 and was buried in the same place. The headstone is identical to Emma's mother's.

B. Deboard (Lowmansville); 1 sister, Lydia Chandler (Lowmansville); 56 grandchildren; and 83 great-grandchildren. MYRTLE BLANTON, daughter of ALICE FAIRCHILD and (unknown first name) BLANTON, was born in March of 1889 in Kentucky. She married JOHN EDD BLANTON on August 9, 1906 in Johnson County, Kentucky. He was born about 1887 in Kentucky, and died before 1940.

According to Kentucky marriage record transcripts, Mertie Fairchild (parents b. Johnson County, age 17) married John E. Blanton (age 18) on August 9, 1906 in Johnson County.

There was a John Edward Blanton or John Edd Blanton who was born February 14, 1887, and died January 11, 1940 in Amba, Floyd County, Kentucky. This John Blanton, son of Mary Lemaster and James A. Blanton, had a wife named Myrtle, but in his obituary, his surviving childrens' names are completely different than the John E. Blanton who married Myrtle Blanton.

According to U.S. Army enlistment records, John E. Blanton joined on January 30, 1909 in Ohio. He was born in Johnson County, Kentucky, 21 years old, he was 5 feet 5 inches tall, he had blue eyes, brown hair, and a ruddy complexion. He served in the 28th Infantry and was discharged on January 29, 1912 in Hennepin County, Minnesota.

According to his death certificate, John Edd Blanton died January 11, 1940 in Martin, Floyd County, Kentucky, from toxic poisoning from a carbunkle on the back of his neck. Also on this certificate, his birthplace is listed as Johnson County, his birth date as February 14, 1887, his marital status as married, his wife as Myrtle Blanton, his occupation as farmer, his parents as James Blanton (b. Johnson County) and Mary Lemaster (b. Morgan County), the informant as Bud Blanton of Drift, Kentucky, and the burial place as Amby.

In 1940, Mrs. Myrtie Blanton of Harold, Floyd County, Kentucky, filled out an application for a veteran headstone for John E. Blanton. On that application it shows that John served from January 13, 1909 to January 29, 1912 as a private in Company M, 28th Infantry. It also shows that he died January 11, 1940, and was buried in Martin Cemetery in Amba, Kentucky.

According to his obituary, John Edward Blanton (age 52), son of the late James and Mary Lemaster Blanton, was a native of Johnson County, and a resident of Amba, Kentucky, at the time of his death. He died Thursday at home after suffering for some time from a carbuncle on the back of his neck [the obituary was published on February 1, 1940], and was buried in Amba Cemetery. He was survived by his wife, Mrs. Myrtle Blanton; 3 sons, Forest Blanton, Cecil Blanton, and Archie Blanton; and 5 daughters, Mrs. Zeal Johnson, Mrs. Hassall Hampton, Miss Lily Blanton, Miss Madge Blanton, and Miss Helen Blanton (all of Amba). When Elza Conley's World War I draft registration card was filled out on September 12, 1918 in Magoffin County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a farmer in Cyrus, Magoffin County, that his closest relative was Grace Conley of Cyrus, and that he was born December 12, 1885. He was found to be short, of medium build, and he had gray eyes and dark-colored hair.

Conley lived from June 28, 1891 to August 13, 1973, and was buried in the same cemetery.

He married EDNA GOBLE, daughter of NANCY ELIZABETH RICE and WILLIAM HENRY GOBLE, about 1924. She was born September 8, 1902 in Johnson County, Kentucky, died May 16, 1976 in Paintsville, Johnson County, Kentucky, and is buried in Rivers Cemetery in Leander, Johnson County, Kentucky.

Notes: According to Social Security death record transcripts, Bruce Blair was born February 27, 1905, and died in February of 1985. He received his Social Security card through the Railroad Board in 1951-1963, and his last place of residence was in Leander, Johnson County, Kentucky.

According to Kentucky death record transcripts, Bruce Blair died February 23, 1985 in Johnson County at the age of 79. He was living in Johnson County at the time of his death.

According to her obituary, Edna Goble Blair (age 73), daughter of William H. and Nancy Elizabeth Rice Goble, lived in Leander, Kentucky, her entire life. She was born September 8, 1902 in Johnson County, died May 16, 1976 in Paintsville Hospital, and was buried in Rivers Cemetery in Leander. She was survived by her husband, Bruce Blair; 2 sons, Hubert Blair (of Sandusky, Ohio) and Donald Blair (Roanoke, Virginia); 2 daughters, Ina Spangler (Vinton, Virginia) and Yvonne Pendleton (Roanoke); 3 sisters, Maymie Trimble (West Van Lear), Effie Hackworth (Blue Creek, Ohio), and Marie Brown (Leander); 10 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. Also listed are Edna (wife, born in Kentucky, 8th grade education, age 37), Hubert (son, born in Kentucky, age 14), Garnet Marie [hard to read] (daughter, born in Kentucky, age 12), Donald (son, born in Kentucky, age 9), Inalee (daughter, born in Kentucky, age 5), and Yovnenie (daughter, born in Kentucky, age 3 months). Bruce's parents are in house #109.
