When Mitchell Walters' World War I draft registration card was filled out on June 5, 1918 in Paintsville, Johnson County, Kentucky, he stated that he was working for the Consolidation Coal Company in Van Lear, Kentucky, that his closest relative was W. M. Walters, and that he was born April 14, 1897. He was found to be of medium height and build, and he had gray eyes and dark brown hair.

Information found on the Johnson County Historical Society's website and photos of their headstones shows that Mitchell Walters lived from April 14, 1897 to February 23, 1938, and was buried in Jesse Preston Cemetery in Meally, Johnson County, Kentucky, and that Goldia Walters lived from January 28, 1897 to March 15, 1968, and was buried in the same cemetery.

According to his death certificate, Mitchel Walters died February 23, 1938 in Buffalo, Johnson County, Kentucky, from silicosis and a dilated heart. Also on this certificate, his birthplace is listed as Johnson County, his age as 40, his wife as Goldie Walters, his occupation as miner, his parents as W. M. Walters (b. Johnson County) and Julia Davis (b. Johnson County), the informant as Leonard Walters of Meally, Kentucky. and the burial place as Buffalo.

According to his obituary, Mitchell Walters (age 42), was a farmer and miner for most of his life. He died February 23, 1938 at home in Meally after "an illness of six months from a strange malady which some thought to have been brought about by inhaling rock dust," and was buried in Walters Family Cemetery near Concord. Notes: When Samuel Meade's World War I draft registration card was filled out on September 12, 1918 in Magoffin County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a farmer working for John C. Meade of Elm, Magoffin County, that his closest relative was John C. Meade, and that he was born May 4, 1900. He was found to be of medium height and slender build, and he had black eyes and black hair. Not being able to read or write, he signed the card with an "X."

According to a newspaper article about her 85th birthday party, Gertrude Hamilton Meade, daughter of the late Isaac and Louisa Conley Hamilton, was born July 3, 1899 in Morgan County [although it's July of 1897 and she's 2 years old in the 1900 census], and was the wife of the late Sam Meade, who died in 1957. She was the mother of 8 children, Wannie Meade (of Catlettsburg), Sam Meade Jr. (Catlettsburg), Mrs. Walter Black (Catlettsburg), Andrew Meade (Ashland), R. C. Meade (Ashland), Vertrice Clark (Cleveland, Ohio), Robert Marion Meade (Louisa), and the late James Meade. She lived in the Ashland area during the summer with her sisters, Ola Williams and Myrtle Cantrell, and the rest of the year with her daughter in Cleveland.

Information found on the Johnson County Historical Society's website and a photo of their headstone shows that Gertrude Meade lived from July 3, 1899 to April 3, 1988, and was buried in Meade Cemetery in Staffordsville, Johnson County, Kentucky, and that Sammie Meade lived from May 1, 1900 to November 19, 1957, and was buried in the same cemetery. The birth dates on the headstone are incorrect, as Gertude is listed as being born in July of 1897 and is 2 years old when the 1900 census was taken, and Sammy was born in May of 1899 and 1 year old in that same census.

Information found on the Johnson County Historical Society's website shows that both Lillian Conley Dixon and Rolla Dixon were buried in Highland Memorial Park in Staffordsville. There is a photo of their headstone, but the dates are hard to read.

Ray was found to be of medium height and light build, and he had blue eyes and light brown hair.

Notes: When David Homer Masters' World War I draft registration card was filled out on September 12, 1918 in Grant, Perkins County, Nebraska, he stated that he was a farmer working for Chas. H. Jackson in Madrid, Perkins County, that his closest relative as Mary C. Jackson of Elsie, Perkins County, and that he was born April 10, 1900. He was found to be of medium height and build, and he had blue eyes and brown hair.

According to Social Security death record transcripts, David Masters was born April 10, 1900, and died in June of 1983. He received his Social Security card prior to 1951 in Nebraska, and his last place of residence was in Goodland, Sherman County, Kansas.
