According to her obituary, Mahala Conley Wheeler (age 85), daughter of the late Henry Jackson and Elizabeth "Grace" Conley, was a prominent resident of Wheelersburg. She was born December 28, 1869, died at home on December 30, 1954 following an illness of 11 years, and was buried in the Conley Cemetery in Wheelersburg. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Wheeler, on May 5, 1952. She was survived by "three" daughters, Mrs. Flo Lemaster (of Chandlerville), Mrs. Mary Brown (Wheelersburg), "Mrs." Wanna Wheeler (Wheelersburg), and Mrs. Bertie Lawrence (Urbana, Missouri); 1 sister, Mrs. Minnie Lemaster (Wenatchee, Washington); 32 grandchildren; 68 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

According to Kentucky death record transcripts, Mahala J. Wheeler died December 30, 1954 in Magoffin County at the age of 85.

According to his death certificate, Charles Wheeler died May 5, 1952 in Wheelersburg from generalized arteriosclerosis and senility. Also on this certificate, his birthplace is listed as Magoffin County, his birth date as November 8, 1864, his marital status as married, his parents as Stephen Wheeler and Elizabeth Chandler, the informant as Wanna Wheeler, and the burial place as Wheeler Cemetery in Wheelersburg.

According to his obituary, Rev. Charles Wheeler, son of Stephen and Elizabeth Chandler Wheeler, was born November 18, 1864, married Mahala Jane Conley on June 22, 1887, and died May 5, 1952 at the age of 87 years 5 months and 17 days. He was preceded in death by 3 sons, James Wick Wheeler (d. October 3, 1930), "Layette" Marion Wheeler (d. April 13, 1936), and Henry Sheridan Wheeler (d. in infancy); and 1 daughter, Lydia Wheeler (d. in infancy). When Leo Frank Lemaster's World War I draft registration card was filled out on September 12, 1918 in Johnson County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a self-employed farmer in Davisville, Johnson County, that his nearest relative was Flotella Lemaster, and that he was born October 15, 1879. He was found to be of medium height and build, and he had blue eyes and light-colored hair.

According to her obituary, Flotella Wheeler Lemaster (age 75), daughter of the late Mahala Conley Wheeler and the Rev. Charles Wheeler, was born August 7, 1888 in Coffee Creek, Morgan County, died May 24, 1964 at home in Chandlerville after a heart attack, and was buried in the family cemetery in Chandlerville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Frank Lemaster, on August 11, 1953, whom she married on February 7, 1906; and 2 sons, Dorsey Lemaster and Lowell Lemaster. She was survived by 5 sons, Thurman Lemaster (of Chandlerville), Loran Lemaster (Chandlerville), Leroy Lemaster (Lexington), Paul Lemaster (Versailles), and Francis Lemaster (San Diego, California); 3 daughters, Mrs. Ruth Lemaster (Jackson, Ohio), Mrs. Neva Caudill (Chandlerville, with whom she made her home), and Mrs. Wilma Jane Baker (Versailles); 3 sisters, Mrs. Mary Brown (Wheelersburg), Miss Wanna Wheeler, and Mrs. Bertie Lawrence (Kansas City, Missouri); 35 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren. When Marion Lafayette Wheeler's World War I draft registration card was filled out on June 5, 1917 in Magoffin County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a self-employed farmer in Wheelersburg, Magoffin County, that he was married, and that he was born July 9, 1891 in Relief, Kentucky. He was found to be of medium height and stout build, and he had brown eyes and dark brown hair.

According to his obituary, M. L. Wheeler (age 45), son of the Rev. Charles Wheeler of Wheelersburg, was killed instantly on April 13, 1936 near Naugatuck, West Virginia, when the car he was driving plunged over a 200 foot embankment and landed on railroad tracks. Others in the car escaped with minor injuries. He was survived by his parents, his wife, several children, and a number of brothers and sisters.

According to her obituary, Erie Rice Wheeler (age 76), daughter of Green and Cora Davis Rice, died September 7, 1972 in the Paintsville hospital after a long illness at the age of 76, and was buried in the family cemetery in Wheelersburg. She was survived by 5 sons, Wayne Wheeler (of Oil Springs), Paul Wheeler (Oil Springs), Robert Wheeler (Oil Springs), Francis Wheeler (Springfield, Ohio), and Marshall Wheeler (Barnetts Creek); 2 daughters, Mrs. Joe Arnett (Sciotoville, Ohio) and Mrs. William Gabbe (Riverside, California); and 5 brothers, Frank Rice (Orlando, Florida), Grant Rice (Ft. Myers, Florida), Charles Rice (Falcon, Kentucky), Roy Rice (Centerville, Ohio), and Johnnie Rice (Oil Springs).

According to Social Security death record transcripts, Erie Wheeler was born November 27, 1895, and died in September of 1972. She received her Social Security card prior to 1951 in Michigan, and her last place of residence was in Oil Springs, Johnson County, Kentucky.

Robson in Jackson Township, that he was single, that he was living in Wheelersburg, Magoffin County, Kentucky, and that he was born September 26, 1895 in Wheelersburg. He was found to be tall, of medium build, and he had blue eyes and brown hair.

According to his death certificate, James W. Wheeler died October 3, 1930 in Inez after being hit by a car, living for only 2 hours afterwards. Also on this certificate, his birthplace is listed as Magoffin County, his birth date as September 24, his age as 35 years 9 days, his marital status as married, his occupation as tool dresser, his parents as Charles Wheeler (b. Johnson County) and Mahaley Conley (b. Magoffin County), the informant as L. M. Wheeler, and the burial place as Wheelersburg.

According to his obituary, Wick Wheeler (age 35), son of Rev. and Mrs. Charles Wheeler of Wheelersburg, died about a mile outside of Inez, Kentucky, when the car he was driving went off of the road and down a 100 foot embankment, rolling several times. The car came to rest on top of him and caused severe injuries, but he managed to stay alive until he got to the doctor's office. He was survived by his parents, Rev. and Mrs. Charles Wheeler; 4 sisters, Mrs. L. F. There was a Jane Conley that died in 1931 in Russell, Greenup County, and her husband is listed as Aquillia Conley. On her death certificate, her parents are listed as Geo. Wallace and Rachel Blevins (could be Blevens). No other Aquilla Conley can be found in Kentucky at this time. There is a Maria Wallace that is found in 1870 census in Greenup County, and she is 6 years old and the daughter of George J. and Rachel Wallace. In the 1880 census for Greenup County she is Maria Jane and 16 years old.

According to his death certificate, Aquilla C. Conley died November 26, 1947 in Oil Springs from a cerebral hemorrhage. Also on this certificate, his birth date is listed as October 9, 1871, his marital status as widowed, his wife as Martha Jane Conley, his occupation as carpenter, his parents as Henry Jackson Conley (b. Kentucky) and Elizabeth Crace (b. Kentucky), the informant as Mary Rose of Ashland, Kentucky, and the doctor as Grant Rice [Ulysses Grant Rice].

The fact that Julia Penix was born March 16, 1913 and died October 15, 1982 comes from The Conley Clan of Eastern Kentucky. According to Kentucky birth record transcripts, there was a Nora Penix that was born to a Rebecca Ramey on March 16, 1913 in Magoffin County. There is a Juley Penix, who's 6 years old, found living with her parents, Nehemiah and Beckan, in the 1920 census. In 1930, Nehemiah has died and Beckie is living with some of her children, but Juley is gone. There is no proof that the Nora Penix who was born the same day as Julia Penix in Magoffin County, was actually Julia Nora Penix (or Nora Julia Penix). But it sure appears that was with the evidence that was found. That family's 1920 census listed will be posted here for future reference.

When Lonzi Crace's World War I draft registration card was filled out on June 5, 1917 in Johnson County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a farmer working for his father, that he was single, and that he was born February 5, 1896 in Barnetts Creek, Kentucky. He was found to be of medium height and build, and he had brown eyes and brown hair.

According to his death certificate, Lonza Crace died April 13, 1951 in Mary Chiles Hosptital in Mt. Sterling from cancer of the left lung. Also on this certificate, his birthplace is listed as Johnson County, his birth date as February 5, 1895, his occupation as farmer, his marital status as married, his parents as Jason Crace and Ciller Conley, the informant as Mrs. Ora Crace, the burial place as Lovely Cemetery in Montgomery County, Kentucky, and that he was a veteran of World War I.

He received his Social Security card prior to 1951 in West Virginia, and his last place of residence was in Roanoke, Roanoke County, Virginia.

William Roscoe Blanton was the brother of James Alex H. Blanton, Mary E. "Mollie" Blanton, Lourissa A. "Rissie" Blanton, and Cora Blanton.

George Washington Blanton was the brother of Elias Blanton, Sarah Ann Blanton and James Mack Blanton.

According to "The Conley Clan of Eastern Kentucky," published and sold by The Magoffin County Historical Society (page 28), Dorcas Fairchild was born in 1884, and married Rosco Blanton. Their children were Ruie Blanton (who married Ollie Conley), Dove Blanton (who married Woodrow McCarty), Guste Blanton (who married Clyde McCarty), Flem Blanton (who married (1) Helen Trimble and married (2) Sina Rice), and Rexford Blanton (who married Patsy McFaddin).

When Roscoe Blanton's World War I draft registration card was filled out on September 12, 1918 in Paintsville, Johnson County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a self-employed farmer in Kenwood, Johnson County, that his nearest relative was Darcas Blanton of Kenwood, and that he was born June 2, 1882. He was found to be 5 feet 5 inches tall, of medium build, and he had dark brown hair and dark brown eyes.

According to her death certificate, Dorcas Blanton died July 23, 1953 in Paintsville Hospital from a pulmonary embolism. Also on this certificate, her birthplace is listed as Kentucky, her birth date as September 14, 1884, her marital status as married, her parents as Thomas Fairchild and Elizabeth Jane Conley, the informant as Roscoe Blanton, and the burial place as the family cemetery in Kenwood, Johnson County, Kentucky.

According to her obituary, Dorcas Fairchild Blanton (age 68), daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Conley Fairchild, was a lifelong resident of Kenwood, Kentucky. She was born September 14, 1884 in Kenwood, died July 23, 1953 in a local Johnson County hospital, and was buried in the family cemetery in Kenwood. She was survived by her husband, Roscoe Blanton; 2 sons, Flem Blanton (of Kenwood) and Rexford Blanton (Manila); 3 daughters, Mrs. Woodrow McCarty (Buchanan), Mrs. Clyde McCarty (Cannonsburg), and Miss Ruie Blanton (Kenwood); 1 brother, Henry Fairchild (Kenwood); 4 sisters, Mrs. Alice Colvin (Mine Fork), Mrs. Mary McCarty (Hendricks), Mrs. Sarah Blanton (Paintsville), and Mrs. Ellen Blanton (Win).
