He was born March 22, 1883 in Lawrence County, died December 12, 1955 in a Lexington hospital after an illness of 5 years, and was buried in the family cemetery in Busseyville. Although there is no real proof, Rebecca Preston was probably the daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Castle Preston. They can be found in the 1860 census, a year before Rebecca was born, but in 1870 Elizabeth is found - apparently widowed - living with one of her daughters in the home of a Fred Murry family, and her other children are found scattered around, living with different families. Rebecca is found living in the home of a Samuel S. Murray family. In 1880 Rebecca can be found living with her sister, Nancy. Information on that Thomas and Elizabeth Castle Preston and their family will be included here.

Ollie Hibbitts name was determined by finding the birth record of one of her children, Charles, who was born in February of 1876 in Lawrence County, Kentucky. His parents are listed as Frank Wellman and Ollie Hibbits. Frank, Ollie, Charles, and the rest of their family can be found on page 36 of the 1880 census for District 49 (Twin Branches) in Lawrence County, Kentucky. On page 4 of the 1910 census for District 100 (Magisterial District No. 4) in Lawrence County, Kentucky, Frank Wellman is listed as being on his 2nd marriage, and it's with his wife Belle, whom he's found with in 1900.

When Luther Jackson's World War I draft registration card was filled out on June 5, 1917 in Logan County, West Virginia, he stated that he was a miner working for the Maher-Pursglove Mining Company in Chauncey, West Virginia, that he had a wife and 2 children, and that he was born December 12, 1890 in Ivyton, Kentucky. He was found to be of medium height and build, and he had blue eyes, brown hair, and heart trouble. Not being able to read or write, he signed the card with an "X."

According to Social Security death record transcripts, Luther Jackson was born December 12, 1891, and died in September of 1968. He received his Social Security card prior to 1951 in Kentucky, and his last place of residence was in West Alexandria, Preble County, Ohio.

According to Ohio death record transcripts, Luther Jackson was born about 1892, and died September 14, 1968 in Good Samaritan Hospital and Health Center in Dayton, Montgomery County at the age of 76. He was married and living in Preble County at the time of his death.

Also listed are Mary (born in Kentucky, parents born in Kentucky, first married at 23, age 39), Lillie (born in Kentucky, age 16), Millie (born in Kentucky, age 14), W. Frank (born in Kentucky, age 11), and Denis (born in Kentucky, age 8). They are living under the same roof as an Ishmel Patton family.

When Woots Slusher's World War I draft registration card was filled out on June 5, 1917 in Letcher County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a coal miner working for The Consolidation Coal Company in Jenkins, Kentucky, that he had a wife and mother who were dependant on him, and that he was born June 16, 1891 in Orchard, Kentucky. He was found to be tall, of medium build, and he had gray eyes and dark brown hair. Not being able to read or write, he signed the card with an "X."

When Woots Slusher's World War II draft registration card was filled out in Winamac, Pulaski County, Indiana, he stated that he was born June 16, 1892 in Magoffin County, Kentucky, and that his closest relative was Tellie Slusher of Medaryville, Indiana. He was found to have gray eyes, gray hair, and a dark complexion. Still not being able to read or write, he signed the card with an "X."

According to Jasper County, Indiana death record transcripts, Tellie Slusher died July 25, 1964 at the age of 74. Her parents are listed as Frank Jackson and Kate Hood.

According to Social Security death record transcripts, Woots Slusher was born June 16, 1885, and died in May of 1966. He received his Social Security card prior to 1951 in Kentucky, and his last place of residence was in Medaryville, Pulaski County, Indiana.

On page 30 of the 1920 census for District 23 (Logan) in Logan County, West Virginia (dated January 12, 1920), W. S. Slusher is listed as the head of the household for house #270, he's a coal miner, born in Virginia, parents born in Virginia, and he's 29 years old. Also listed are Tellie (wife, born in Virginia, parents born in Kentucky, age 26), and 3 boarders from Poland that are working as coal miners.

On page 4 of the 1930 census for District 23-19 (Logan) in Logan County, West Virginia (dated April 3, 1930), Woots Slusher is listed as the head of the household for house #34, he's a trackman in the coal mines, born in Kentucky, parents born in Kentucky, first married at age 21, and he's 40 years old. When Mason Jackson's World War I draft registration card was filled out on June 15, 1917 in Logan County, West Virginia, he stated that he was working for the Maher-Pursglove Mining Company in Chauncey, West Virginia, that he was single, and that he was born November 26, 1896 in Paintsville, Kentucky. He was found to be of medium height and stout build, and he had blue eyes and dark brown hair.

According to his death certificate, Mason Jackson was murdered near his home in Flat Rock on May 28, 1939, dying from gunshot wounds. Also on this certificate, his age is listed as 41 years 10 months, his marital status as married, his wife as Rosie Jackson, his parents as Frank Jackson (b. Kentucky) and Catherine Hood (b. Kentucky), the informant as Frank Jackson of Salyersville, Kentucky, and the burial place as Ivyton, Magoffin County, Kentucky.

Manda's maiden name was possibly Collins. Her race is listed as black in the 1900 census and Samuel as white (page 45 of the 1900 census for District 29 (Olive Hill) in Carter County, Kentucky), and they are living close to a number of Collins families. In addition, there is an uncle named Frank Collins living with the family in 1910 and in 1930 daughter Cora's family has a Thelva Collins living with them.

He was found to be of medium height and slender build, and he had blue eyes and brown hair. Not being able to read or write, he signed the card with an "X."
