    Notes: Chloe Conley's sister, Edna, married Samuel Worthington's cousin, William. Their father's were brothers, the sons of James Worthington and Eleanor Smiley.

    Emily Rose's maiden name was determined by finding her death certificate (1842-1915). Her parents are listed as Charley and Becky Rose on that certificate.

    When Samuel Worthington's World War I draft registration card was filled out on September 12, 1918 in Greenup County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a farmer in Hunnewell, Greenup County, that his closest relative was Clora Worthington of Hunnewell, and that he was born October 30, 1872. He was found to be short, of medium build, and he had blue eyes and light-colored hair. Not being able to read or write, he signed the card with an "X."

    Notes: When Boyd Conley's World War I draft registration card was filled out on June 5, 1917 in Magoffin County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a self-employed farmer in Brownlow, Kentucky, that he was married, and that he was born May 12, 1891 near Cyrus, Kentucky. He was found to be of medium height and build, and he had blue eyes and light-colored hair.

    When Boyd Conley's World War II draft registration card was filled out on April 27, 1942 in Pickaway County, Ohio, he stated that his closest relative was Mrs. Della Conley of Darby Township in Pickaway County, and that he was born May 12, 1891 in "McGoffin" County, Kentucky. He was found to be 5 feet 9 inches tall, he weighed 130 pounds, and he had blue eyes, black hair, and a light-colored complexion.

    According to Ohio death record transcripts, Boyd Conley was born about 1892, and died January 17, 1960 in Columbus, Franklin County, at the age of 68. He was married at the time of his death.

    According to Social Security death record transcripts, Della Conley was born June 12, 1898, and died in November of 1977. She received her Social Security card in 1973 in Ohio, and her last place of residence was in Grove City, Franklin County, Ohio.

    According to Ohio death record transcripts, Della Conley was born about 1898, and died November 9, 1977 in Doctors Hospital-West in Franklin County at the age of 79. She was living in Grove City and was widowed at the time of her death.

    Lillie's birthdate is shown as December of 1879 in the 1880 census, but it's January 1, 1880 on her death certificate.

    Rufus and Lillie had a baby boy that was stillborn in Boyd County on March 11, 1916. They had another child that was stillborn on March 22, 1920, also in Boyd County. This child's sex wasn't listed on the death certificate. They had another stillborn male on October 30, 1922.

    When Rufus B. Penix's World War I draft registration card was filled out on September 12, 1918 in Catlettsburg, Boyd County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a merchant in Ashland, Boyd County, that his closest relative was Lilley Penix of Ashland, and that he was born June 21, 1877. He was found to be tall and slender, and he had blue eyes and gray hair.

    According to Social Security death record transcripts, Rufus Penix was born June 21, 1877, and died in January of 1969. He received his Social Security card prior to 1951 in Kentucky, and his last place of residence was in Deland, Volusia County, Florida.

    According to her death certificate, Lillie Francis Penix died July 11, 1934 in Ashland from myocarditis. Also on this certificate, her birthplace is listed as McGoffin County, Kentucky, her birthdate as January 1, 1880, her marital status as married, her husband as R.B. Penix, her parents as G.H. Francis (b. Pike County, Kentucky) and Cynthia Brown (b. Kentucky), the informant as R.B. Penix of Pike County, Kentucky, and the burial place as Dixon Cemetery in Ashland.

He was born December 21, 1891 in Johnson County, Kentucky, died March 11, 1965 in Pikeville, Pike County, Kentucky, and is buried in Clubhouse Cemetery in Van Lear, Johnson County, Kentucky.

    Notes: Melvin Webb was the brother of Rosella Webb, who married Elizabeth Davis' uncle, Alonzo Davis.

    According to a note attached to his obituary, Melvin Webb (age 19) married Liza Davis (age 15), daughter of Charlie Davis, on March 28, 1910. He married Mirian Roberts (age 15), daughter of Fred and Ida Mahan Roberts on June 3, 1917.

    Elizabeth Davis had a stillborn male on March 18, 1915 in Van Lear, Johnson County, Kentucky. On that child's death certificate his parents are listed as Melvin Webb (b. Johnson County) and Lizzie Davis (b. Johnson County).

    When Melvin Webb's World War I draft registration card was filled out on June 5, 1917 in Johnson County, Kentucky, he stated that he was a self-employed farmer in Van Lear, Johnson County, that he was married and had 2 children, and that he was born December 21, 1891 in Johnson County. He was found to be of medium height and stout build, and he had brown eyes and dark hair.

    According to his obituary, Melvin Webb (age 73), son of the late William J. and Jane Honeycutt Webb and a well known retired barber, was born December 21, 1891 in Johnson County, died March 11, 1965 in a Pikeville hospital after an extended illness, and was buried in the Van Lear Clubhouse Cemetery. He was survived by his wife, Bessie Webb; 2 sons, Drexel Webb (of Jenkins) and Kermit Webb (California); 1 daughter, Mrs. Mattalea Webb Holbrook (Kenton, Ohio); 2 step-sons, Tom Blevins (Bladensburg, Maryland) and John Russell Ward (Hendon, West Virginia); 1 step-daughter, Mrs. Helen Delp (Oceanside, California); 1 adopted daughter, Mrs. Deloris Brown (Louisa); and 6 grandchildren.

    According to Kentucky death record transcripts, Melvin Webb died March 11, 1965 in Pike County at the age of 73. He was living in Johnson County at the time of his death.

    Notes: According to his death certificate, Herbert Davis died June 24, 1935 in Paintsville Hospital from a perforated gall bladder. Also on this certificate, his birthplace is listed as Johnson County, his birthdate as November 3, 1892, his marital status as married, his occupation as coal miner, his parents as Leck Davis (b. Kentucky) and Mary Blackburn (b. Kentucky), the informant as Mary Davis of Van Lear, and the burial place as Davis Branch Cemetery in Paintsville.

    According to his obituary, Herbert Davis (age 43), of Van Lear, died June 24, 1935 in Paintsville Hospital as the result of an operation because of gall bladder trouble. "He had been in poor health for some time and the operation was the last resort in an attempt to save his life."

    According to her death certificate, Mary Ann Castle Davis (age 69), daughter of the late Thomas J. and Lydia Blevins Castle and a lifelong resident of Johnson County, was born June 6, 1896 in Johnson County, died May 21, 1966 at a local Johnson County hospital after a brief illness, and was buried in the Davis Branch Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Herbert Davis, in 1935. She was survived by 2 sons, Herbert Davis Jr., (of Oscoda, Michigan) and Franklin D. Davis (Akron, Ohio); 3 daughters, Mrs. Earl Haney (Paintsville), Jacqueline Davis (Paintsville), and Mrs. Lillian Hudson (Thelma); and 1 brother, Elbert "Buddy" Castle, Sr., (Paintsville).

    On page 29 of the 1900 census for District 38 (Paintsville) in Johnson County, Kentucky (dated June 13, 1900), Thomas Castle is listed as the head of the household for house #246, he's a "dailly laborer," born in March of 1857 [hard to read] in Kentucky, parents born in Kentucky, married for 20 years, and he's 43 years old. Also listed are Lydia (wife, born in June of 1854 in Kentucky, parents born in Kentucky, married for 20 years, she's given birth to 11 children and all are still living, age 45), Charley (son, born in October of 1879 in Kentucky, age 20), Lou (daughter, born in January of 1882 in Kentucky, age 18), Gracie (daughter, born in July of 1884 in Kentucky, age 15), Lenard (son, born in November of 1886 in Kentucky, age 13), Miller (son, born in August of 1888 in Kentucky, age 11), Virgie (daughter, born in February of 1890 in Kentucky, age 10), Huldie (daughter, born in March of 1891 in Kentucky, age 9), Herbert (son, born in March of 1891 in Kentucky, age 9), Elbert (son, born in November of 1893 in Kentucky, age 6), Mary (daughter, bonr in April of 1896 in Kentucky, ae 4), and Lula (daughter, born in September of 1898 in Kentucky, age 1).

    On page 18 of the 1910 census for District 65 (Paintsville) in Johnson County, Kentucky (dated April 23, 1910), Thomas J. Castle is listed as the head of the household for house #131, he's a farmer, born in Kentucky, father born in Kentucky, mother born in Virginia, 1st marriage, married for 32 years, and he's 50 years old. Also listed are Lydia (wife, born in Kentucky, parents born in Kentucky, 1st marriage, she's given birth to 11 children and all are still living, age 53), Garfield (son, single, carpenter, born in Kentucky, age 27), Leonard (son, single, farmer, born in Kentucky, age 25), Virgie (daughter, born in Kentucky, age 20), Herbert (son, born in Kentucky, age 18), Hulda (daughter, born in Kentucky, age 18), Elbert (son, born in Kentucky, age 16), Mary A. (daughter, born in Kentucky, age 14), and Lula (daughter, born in Kentucky, age 12).

    On page 6 of the 1920 census for District 133 (Freeburn) in Pike County, Kentucky (dated January 3, 1920), Herbert Davis is listed as the head of the household for house #44, he's a coal miner, born in Kentucky, parents born in Kentucky, and he's 28 years old. Also listed are Mary (wife, born in Kentucky, parents born in Kentucky, age 24), Arcona C. (daughter, born in Kentucky, age 1), and Hulda Castle (sister-in-law, single, not working, age 27).

    On pages 36 & 37 of the 1930 census for District 58-5 (Van Lear) in Johnson County, Kentucky (dated April 11, 1930), H.B. Davis is listed as the head of the household for house #549, he's a coal miner, born in Kentucky, parents born in Kentucky, first married at age 24, and he's 38 years old. Also listed are Mary L. (wife, born in Kentucky, parents born in Kentucky, first married at 21, age 34), Arconia (daughter, born in Kentucky, age 12), Millard (son, born in Kentucky, age 9), Herbert (son, born in Kentucky, age 7), and Arizona (daughter, born in Kentucky, age 5). There were possibly other children in the 1930 census, but in between the scans of pages 36 & 37 there are many houses missing. It goes from house #549 at the bottom of page 36, to house #607 at the top of page 37. Daughter Jacqueline was born in 1926 and daughter Lula was born in 1929, so they should have been in the census.

Kentucky) and Mary Castle (b. Kentucky), the informant as Mrs. Herbert Davis of Paintsville, and the burial place as M. Hall Cemetery in Paintsville.
      2. MILLARD C. DAVIS, b. 1920, Pike County, Kentucky.

Kentucky), the informant as Herbert Davis of Van Lear, and the burial place as Davis Branch Cemetery.
      7. LILLIAN C. DAVIS, b. Johnson County, Kentucky, m. (unknown first name) HUDSON.

        Notes: According to his obituary, Frank Delanore Davis (age 68), son of the late Charles H. Sr. and Mary Ann Castle Davis, was born January 22, 1935 in Johnson County, died December 15, 2003 in the Paul B. Hall Medical Center in Paintsville, and was buried in Highland Memorial Park in Staffordsville. He was a refrigerator and air conditioning technician, and was preceded in death by a son, Paul Davis. He was survived by 5 sons, Dave E. Davis (of Rootstown, Ohio), Jeff Davis (Ft. Walton, Florida), Tony D. Davis (Akron, Ohio), Brad Davis, and Frank Davis Jr.; 2 daughters, Thersa Davis Schenger (Bascom, Ohio) and Mary Ann Davis; 2 sisters, Arizonia Haney (Paintsville) and Jackie Davis (Paintsville); 12 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
        According to Social Security death record transcripts, Franklin D. Davis was born January 22, 1935, and died December 15, 2003. He received his Social Security card prior to 1951 in Kentucky, and his last place of residence was in Meally, Johnson County, Kentucky.
